-- ZERO STAR --
We arrived to the House 605, on Friday 14th of Sept at 1500Hr. This house was disgustingly dirty. Blood and other stains on the couch, pillows and other furniture. The stove was full of fat and food leftovers; walls were covered in blood from smashed mosquitos and other unclear dirt; mouse poo, hairs and other dirt was in closets; cooking pans were dirty; blankets, pillows and mattresses full of yellow and brown stains. Curtains full of dead mosquitos and other bugs. It looked like a bunch of dirty animals have stayed in that house.
After getting mad on the phone they sent some poor eastern European girls to try to clean up the dirt. They did their best to make some improvements but could not make the necessary changes to make the house acceptable to stay. These girls were given 1 hour to clean the whole house before our arrival. The house consists of 4 bedrooms, 3 full showers, kitchen, terrace. Who in the world can clean a whole house inside and outside in 1 hour in the first place?? We really felt sorry for these girls. They get totally exploited by Europarcs if they need to clean a whole house in 1 hour just with two people. This house needed a total fresh-up and should not be rented like in this condition. Speaking of bad publicity.
Obviously, we could not stay in that disgusting place. After many phone calls to several phone numbers and after being told that they were to busy to properly check on this house, we were directed to the reception again in order to ask to be transferred to another house. At 1600 ( 1hour later) we were at the reception and were initially told that Europarcs Poort van Amsterdam is fully booked and could not give us another house. After insisting and explaining again we were given another house. The new house was less dirty but still wasn't fresh at all. We had to clean it pretty much ourselves. Great right? That is exactly what you wanna do when on holiday. Not to mention we wasted a day of our life with this whole check-in and settling down.
The Parc is remoted and not close to public transportation. You need a car to move left right. Their is a very small indoor pool for kids and a very small shop to buy toilet paper and some bread. The house we eventually stayed at had no insect nets around the windows which means sleeping with closed windows to keep the huge amount of spiders and mosquitos out. Very inconvenient. Also the showers have no shower glass which mean a total mess after showering, water is everywhere. Europarcs provide guests with a stick with rubber at the end of it in order to dry out the water on the floor. How thoughtful! Never have we seen anything like that! Also no kitchen closets are available to store your food etc. There is no washing machine in the house(s). Very smart if people stay longer. You can do your laundry somewhere else on the Parc together with all other guests. Due to its proximity to Amsterdam, this Parc is apparently very popular with people from Amsterdam and the ones wanting to be in Amsterdam for having all kind of dirty parties.
Should it be possible I would give this parc ZERO stars. Making a reservation and paying later with a credit card is also not possible. Sending money from abroad with an additional 35 euro transaction fee is the only option, or immediately paying with a credit card during the reservation. Communication with Roompot or Europarcs is very complicated and returning money is not their strongest point. We are still waiting for our money that have been sent a month ago.
Bottom line, if you care staying in a clean well maintained place, this is definitely not...

There we so many problems with this “resort”. Starting with what it misrepresented on its website: the Amsterdam city card doesn’t get you transport to the area. one way ticket is €6, takes 40 mins. Once you get off, you have a 25 minute walk infested with mosquitos on an unlit, unpaved, and narrow path. No shuttle service.
Now their own problems (many): SPIDERS. We walked into our house with about 40-50 spiders on the walls. I am not kidding about that number, and am so surprised few other reviews mention them. Our neighbors we talked to had the same problem. Looking outside the windows there were even more waiting for a chance to get in - meaning that you can’t even open windows to air out the house (no screens).
We were delayed 2 hours for our check in for cleaning, which we were not compensated at all for.
Our fridge, freezer, WiFi, heater and A/C were all broken. There was no soap, no toilet paper, no paper towels, no bath towels. All of these must be purchased at their own convenience store, at which you can expect to pay more than you’re used to.
The cleaning crew, despite leaving us waiting on a bench for 2 hours, forgot to leave us any bedding. And we were also worried about bedbugs, waking up with many bites - although that could have been from mosquitos too.
I remind you, none of this was compensated in the HIGH price we paid (higher than hostels in the actual city, we just wanted a house instead). In fact, we paid even more! They did not give a single cent of our damage deposit back, and refused to give reasoning when we called and asked. We did no damage to the house other than the dead spiders we left on the walls.
The reception office and staff was extremely rude and intentionally ignored us. We asked to see the manager, who apparently only works from 11-2 on a couple days a week (seems too convenient, I just don’t think they have anyone to help you). After talking for an hour or more with the front desk (wasting time we should be enjoying in the beautiful city), we were told the manager would call us later. When the receptionist took my number down I asked to see the paper, all she had written was a bunch of scribbles. Obviously had no intention of ever calling us. Classless employee, just like the rest.
On top of this, some drunk drivers hit two of my friends on their property. There was no action taken against them, and as travelers, it was too difficult to take any legal action with the 36 hours we had left in the country. One suffered a broken hand and the other a concussion. The “resort” had no medical team on site and their “emergency number” wouldn’t dial, it’s not real.
Now, any one of these things alone would be fine. Even a couple I could probably handle. But all of these combined has me writing my first ever review of an accommodation. I have traveled Europe and the USA for years, and have never experienced such a despicable and awful stay. Nothing even comes close to it. We made the best of Amsterdam that we could, but this will forever be the black mark on the trip that sticks with me.
This place was a classless scam and anyone planning to stay here should be advised that you will be disappointed. Find any place else to stay, even if it’s double the price I would have gladly taken the other option. There is a complete misrepresentation of expectations, their website is misdirected and unfair to visitors.

Read moreMy family & I have just returned from a weeks stay here at poort van Amsterdam. ||I must firstly say that this place is in a stunning location & the setting is just beautiful. ||We were early getting to the park (around half 11) & check out is after 3 which is a little bit of a pain. After check in was all done we headed threw the gate to our house.||Once in the house we had a good look round & the kids checked out the bedrooms started to unpack & claim which room they were having!||As I looked around I noticed a huge amount of mosquitoes dead on all the window sills & some even squashed on the blinds...a good wash is obviously needed! The walls also were in need of a paint job as they had squatted mozzies & dirty stains on. The toilet downstairs had a funny wiff to.||Kitchen was clean except for mosquitoes again littering the sills. ||Bathrooms & showers were also clean. ||The sofa had stains on them & had a weird smell. ||We opened all the doors so we could air the place....but that was a big mistake from then on as i was eaten alive! I guess it’s a down fall being very close to the water which also brings the rats..do beware if your little ones are innocently feeding the ducks, they are very brave & come on the deck to scoop up any crumbs, we didn’t feed the ducks again! ||The weather was heating up & in the house the temperature read 31 degrees on the second day/night, It was at times unbearable. I had to go & lay on the bed just to cool down as in there were proper curtains that blocked out the sun.||These houses need air conditioning units for hot summers as the net curtains do not keep the sun out in the day so it’s basically like a green house! I felt like i was cooking from the inside, very uncomfortable. ||On the flip side the kids loved the swimming pool & the play area including the bubble trampolines scattered around the park. ||I’m not sure I would return in a hurry which is a real shame as this is a stunning place & could be a great home from home but when your having to clean before you start your holiday...
