August 2023: Had the pleasure to visit this wonderful place again after a year. Where last year we were already surprised by the unique features they have here such as the sauna theatre, it felt like they perfectionized the concept even further. I would say 5 stars is an insult to this place. It deserves six stars on a scale of 1 to 5. It goes way beyond any other sauna I've visited. The sauna theatre performances completely blew my mind. The combination of a live act with nice scents, the heat, the video footage, the incredible light show, the music, it makes ever part of your body participate in 15 minutes of joy. Simply mind blowing. Staff is very friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The Indian buffet priced at 37,95 euro each excluding drinks was very good, like last year. Where last year we were the only EV using one of their 10 EV chargers, this year all spots were full. Although there were two non EVs parked at it as well and a couple EVs plugged in while not charging, it means if you depend on charging your car to make it back home again at the end of the day, arrive early. They're currently building a hotel next to it which should open in 2025.
Only thing this place really needs to improve is their website. They do such a lousy job at properly showcasing themselves online. From the info provided there you get nowhere the real impression of what this place has to offer. Also simply looking for a menu of the food offered there, it's nowhere to be found online. Or even what the food options are, such as that they have the buffet restaurant upstairs and the a la carte restaurant downstairs, non existent.
August 2022: Beautiful wellness location. Astonished by its beauty and level of detail. Very friendly staff. Impeccably clean. The noise of the nearby highway can be disturbing a little when being outside and the wind is in the wrong direction. Not a big thing though. Lovely massages. The Indian food buffet was very good and tasty. Only their own brewed Mango ale beer was the most disgusting beer I've ever tasted. The smell of it was good though. Personal preference thing. The need to provide a time when you will arrive and when you will depart in advance feels not so relaxing. They say it is to avoid lines at the reception. We were right on time and there were lines anyway. Loved their attention to our wedding celebration. Will...
Read moreWorst experience, would not recommend & unreachable customer service. For those who are looking for a nice spa with a great service, not too crowded, we would recommend Fort Resort Beemster!
We are a couple living in Amsterdam and we are used to go to relaxing spas on the week ends. This one was by far the worst… We arrived 20 minutes late due to a problem on our car; of course we called beforehand (again they didnt answered the phone) and sent an email. Then we arrived on the parking and they are so packed that NONE of the electric charging station were available…
We also had booked a massage but when we presented ourselves at the reception they told us that the massage had been scheduled at the beginning of our reserved time slot, so as we were 30 min late they couldnt make it possible. (precision : when you book the massage you cant choose the time slot)
Then a « manager » came to reassure us: they are aware that we called/send an email as soon as we knew we would be late. She told us that unfortunately they cant book us another treatment but they will think about compensation, either financial or in the form of an equivalent service. Customer service assured us that they would call us back the next day when the treatments manager will be back. They never called us, we wrote several emails with several reminders since then and we never heard anything back from them. For that kind of service, we would expect something better where they really want to make the client happy. Well they did not at all because they are too busy making as many entrances as they can. The place is crowded… Anyway would...

An expansive social space for the 'masses'. Tranquil solitude is completely lost at this spa.
The 'ayurvedic' theme given to the buffet restaurant - 3 Doshas; a thoughtful idea. The food quality was high. Disappointed that the ONLY warm vegetarian dish of choice apart from, rice or roasted potatoes was an entirely non authentic indian dish - Ratatouille. Of all the warm vegetarian dishes available in ayurvedic cuisine, even traditional Indian cuisine; I had higher expectations.
It annoys me too, when dining at a restaurant that takes the time to produce warm good tasting food only to then serve the food on stone cold plates!
Finally on leaving, the exit barrier could not detect our low roofed car and refused to raise - and we were unable to alert the Reception as there was no call button by the exit barrier to be seen! Berendonck spa has been open already for 1,5 year's; something elementary as placing a working 'reception button' at the exit barrier should have been dealt with much earlier on. Even to place a "double barrier " that would recognise low-to-the-ground cars. We were fortunate that another visitor driving an S.U.V was waiting to exit and that the drive out space in front of the barrier was broad enough to allow two cars to drive out together side-by-side. Enfin, I am not certain that I would revisit in the future. The grand space of the surroundings and the mass of visitors were neither what my husband nor, myself originally had in mind as a relaxing...
