The hotel is next to a massive road / flyover but at the back it's more peaceful, overlooking a lake and dyke. The downstairs is furnished in a very opulent style, perhaps a style favoured by Arabic royalty with lots of black shiny marble and bling, plus a huge central fishtank. ||We stayed in the tower penthouse which was a mad room - almost 360 degrees with living room, bar, bathroom, bedroom and extra room in case you don't have enough rooms. The bathroom had a jacuzzi bath larger than some hotel spas. ||We ate in the revolving restaurant where you can choose a new dish from the menu every 15 minutes, so if you want 5 courses of steak you can have this. The vegetarian options weren't super easy to find and there weren't that many vegetarian choices.||The staff were polite but we didn't feel any of the service was outstanding or personalised. To be honest it was like no one there had run a hotel before. It was really fun to stay in the tower, but it was super cold, both in the room and the restaurant and when exiting to the lift there was an icy blast each time. The viewing tower wasn't open/being redone, but the reception staff didn't know this. The overwhelming feeling was of cold! The room was cold and we used the portable oil heaters to try and keep it palatable, the restaurant was also cold, and the bath did not run very hot at all which was an issue when it's so big as it was never able to get hot enough and certainly couldn't keep warm with the massive area to fill. It felt like the owners had spent all their money downstairs on the furnishings and were now saving money on the heating. We stayed the following night in the Euromast tower which was toasty warm so it could be done.||Overall it's a weird (in a good way) place to eat or stay and we would recommend giving it a try - in the summer. ||For the owners: please consider the heating as a necessary, and also your website doesn't even picture the tower/penthouse suite which is a real shame as it's a kitch but wonderful space and pictures on the website are a must. Also, turning the empty spare room into bunk beds would mean a...
Read moreThe room was nice but very cold. The main issues were with the breakfast, which is very expensive for the very poor quality and small amount and the lack of anything available in terms of food, drinks or entertainment.
The breakfast gets delivered to your room based on a note you have to fill in and deliver to the reception every day. There’s fairly little options and the only choices you make is whether you’d like (a single) brown or white piece of bread, small pancakes or a single croissant and yoghurt (with like 3 pieces of fruit) and a really small fruit salad. The concept of them bringing it to your room is fun but it just ends up with you being stuck in your cold room but needing to be awake and waiting for your breakfast to arrive. This is more of a problem because there is nothing available at all to have breakfast, or really eat or drink anything during the day near the hotel.
Furthermore there were some (relatively) small annoyances such as: the many noises that could be heard of people taking the elevators in our rooms, the elevators themselves being literally freezing cold, the “borg” which feels decisively not luxury especially after paying up front, the note in our room saying that we needed to be very careful with the water and such or it would result in an extra 300€ fine, we get that we’re not supposed to destroy the rooms but it’s a bit much and bathrooms are supposed to be a little waterproof I’d say. The shower in the bathroom also has a steam function but the hot steam will be pointed directly at your legs and is very hot, beware! Lastly the fact that the internet was manually turned off and locked on the smart tv which means that we couldn’t watch Netflix or much of anything through our own accounts and that there were only less than 20 tv channels available, only like 4 channels per language.
Overall it’s a nice hotel but a lot of service and communication things could have been...
Read moreDon't get me wrong the interior of this hotel is beautiful, but there are many problems. The rooms are very dated for the money you spend on a room. Which is frustrating because the rooms are good size and for a little money, it could make a world of difference. But what bothered me the most was the lack of safety. For one if you look at this hotel it's a concrete tower they keep all the stair ways locked so if there is a fire your screwed. When we realized this because there was only one working elevator, we were insured not to worry in case of a fire we'll come unlock the doors. Btw look at my photos of there fire safety, covering up electrical plugs with cardboard. If you planning on staying here and having a night out you might have to think again, because the night manger will act like you father. He wants to know where your going and what time you'll be coming back! Also no mini bar, so don't plan on keeping anything cold in your room but at the same time everything in the hotel is closed at night so no late night anything. No room service. But you will find a CD player from 1997. Just not what I expected for the amount of money you spend. One last thing, if you planning on making this a romantic night out make sure you check out the beds, their split in to with nothing holding them together, makes it difficult to sleep next to you partner without falling...
