We had a great stay there. If you love camping and can cope with only basic facilities that's where you should go on the island. The beach is just a stroll away and also there is an entrance to a mountain bike track at 100m. We experienced strong gusts and we've been reassured that we were on the most sheltered camping ground on the island. So get a strong tent or be prepared for some restless nights... The only downside was that the cold showers provided run out of water when someone is using the sinks in the same time, so you have to be fast or lucky to have...

Camped at Haratoanga Camp site for 5 nights in November. It is absolutely beautiful, if you are looking for full peace and quiet you will be awoken by the noise of the sheep and cows that roam free pooping all over the campsite. Vault toilets were not cleaned by DOC over the 5 nights. We did not see DOC at all throughout our stay. On the upside it is absolutely beautiful not far from the beach. Beach was secluded with very few...

Fantastic camp ground. Two long drop toliets which weren't smelly or surrounded by flies. Easy walk to the beach. A great creek winding through the camp ground which the kids loved playing in when not at the beach. The best part- lots of shade from established trees so the kids weren't waking up with the sun. Oh and the stars...

Camped at Haratoanga Camp site for 5 nights in November. It is absolutely beautiful, if you are looking for full peace and quiet you will be awoken by the noise of the sheep and cows that roam free pooping all over the campsite. Vault toilets were not cleaned by DOC over the 5 nights. We did not see DOC at all throughout our stay. On the upside it is absolutely beautiful not far from the beach. Beach was secluded with very few people visiting.
