Mumfords — Hotel in Banks Peninsula Community

This is a very charming place, located not far from town, where you can quietly enjoy the lake view and the summer days, accompanied only by the sounds of birds and cicadas. Nicky and Fran warmly welcomed us with their hospitality. They offered delicious homemade jams, salmon, and a unique ice cream flavored with cherries, vinegar, and black pepper. Their culinary skills are excellent, and if you come here, you should definitely try their dishes.

It’s a wonderful place filled with many antique items, a cozy and peaceful house, along with a fantastic outdoor bathtub and a lake-view terrace. My partner and I stayed at Mumford accommodation for a couple of nights, it is extremely pleasant, and the hosts are very welcoming. They gave us some duck eggs to cook for breakfast whuch were really fresh and yummy. Plenty of firewood for the log burner to keep us toasty as the weather was quite cool and rainy. The wet room shower and heated flooring were great, top quality oven and induction hob loads of pots and pans, crockery and cutlery. We didn't use the outdoor bath but it was big enough for two people. Fabulous views across the Akaroa harbour and over the large sloping garden down to the beach with lots of native birds in the trees. Only a short drive away form the cute, quaint and unique town of Akaroa, Mumford’s is a treasure in and of itself. Beautiful inside and out this little private spot makes the most of its picturesque surroundings. A big thanks to our wonderful hosts, we made the most of the hammock and loved exploring the gardens right down to the water edge.
