Burn Cottage Retreat lived up to our expectations and more. We stayed for a week and were sad to leave. It was the perfect setting to return home to after each day's activities in the Cromwell region. Nestled in a peaceful valley, it's well positioned a few minutes from town and as a central base for exploring the wider area as we did. The cottages are surrounded by extensive gardens that add a restful element to the very comfortable accommodation. Hosts Gill and Noel were most welcoming, going out of their way to provide extras (such as fresh scones and Nespresso coffee) that made our stay truly memorable. The Dunstan Bike Trail is a must do (e-bikes are very popular). Desert Heart winery in Bannockburn serves exquisite platters along with their first class wines. Nothing is a problem to the generous owners who make you all, feel like members of their own family. They give you space, if you want it, and are friendly and companionable if you happen to met them tending their extensive picturesque grounds. I've stayed here all 4 seasons, for several years now. Initially I was just checking out accomodation for a concert nearby. I come back to enjoy the grounds, accomodation and welcomeness Burn Cottage Retreat offers from a busy world. Perhaps Petanque tomorrow or a stroll up through the coloured sheep, to the flagstaff. I'm in no hurry, AND that's what happens when you...
Read moreOur stay here was superb and will be our go to place whenever we visit Cromwell again. Our hosts Noel & Gill couldnât have been more welcoming and helpful. We had a 5 night stay at Rascal cottage and it was spotless and had all the conveniences of home. The quietness and beautiful garden surroundings add to the wonderful appeal of the place. Just be careful of the super friendly sheep if you walk out through the rear gate, they will approach you with great gusto and follow you everywhere. It was so nice to wake up and hear the occasional sheep bah in the morning on awakening, it made you feel like you were on a farm. We have travelled and stayed in many places the world over and burns cottage is in the top notch category. If you choose to stay here you will not be...
