Our family of four recently had the pleasure of staying at Kepler Oaks, and it was an experience we’ll cherish. From the moment we arrived, Helen, our host, made us feel welcome and at home. Her genuine hospitality set the tone for our entire stay. Helen’s hospitality included freshly baked bread, country jam, and butter. We stayed in the two-bedroom cottage, which exuded rustic charm. It was a real escape from the hustle and bustle of city life or other types of accommodation in town. The views were amazing, especially early morning and sunset, looking out at rolling hills, mist-kissed mountains and star filled skies after dark. It was really like a postcard. We spent time on the porch soaking in the beauty of nature. Our kids were very excited when Helen offered them a pony ride into the forest. The kids were over the moon! Trotting through the trees, surrounded by ferns and nature – it was pure magic. Feeding the farm animals was a highlight. The sheep, Alpacas and horses. Kai, the resident dog, stole our hearts. He greeted us every morning. He made us feel like part of the family. As the sun dipped below the horizon, we gathered around the fireplace. The crackling wood, the cozy blankets – it warmed not just the cottage but us too. Kepler Oaks makes day trips to Milford or Doubtful Sounds a breeze. It made the drive to these majestic fjords much easier and allowed us to take our time, then returning to the comfort of the cottage. It’s the little touches that make Kepler Oaks...
Read moreWe had an incredibly comfortable and enjoyable stay at Kepler Oak Chalet. The accommodation was clean and tidy, making us feel right at home. Helen and David's warm hospitality made a big difference, especially when we arrived late.
Helen was very informative about local activities and even took our four children on a pony ride, which was the highlight of our trip. She also checked in on us to ensure we arrived safely and greeted us first thing in the morning, which we appreciated.
We highly recommend Kepler Oak Chalet, especially if you seek a remote, private, and family-friendly place with plenty of space. The chalet has all the essentials provided and feels just like home, with added bonus being surrounded by animals.
The Kepler Track is nearby, offering beautiful views of Lake Te Anau, and Milford Sound is just a few hours' drive away. We definitely intend to return to explore Doubtful Sound on our next trip.
Thank you, Helen and David,...
Read moreNicely appointed property, in a country cottage traditional style with a modern twist. Well equipped. Split into two units - our family of 5 had the 2 bedroom unit which was good size. Beautifully kept, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Located on the same land as the owner's property but at a suitable distance for privacy. Surrounded by open fields and mountain views but only a 5-10 minute drive to Te Anau. Helen was a lovely host. The personal touches of freshly baked bread, butter and jam added to the experience and were very tasty! Helen did offer our kids pony rides but sadly rain put a stop to it but this again was a lovely touch. The addition of bedroom wardrobes (useful for longer staying guests), deck table/chairs to eat outside in the evening and perhaps a partition on the deck between the two units for privacy would be our suggested additions. We wouldn't hesitate...
