Cannot recommend highly enough that you avoid this camping site. I'm a kiwi and the people who own this camp were so horrible, I wanted to warn any international or local visitors to stay away. They were rude and shouldn't be in hospitality. I have travelled in lots of countries and extensively around NZ and have never been treated so rudely. They wouldn't refund our booking money. We ended up staying the night as it was getting dark. We then learnt the facilities are dirty and sub standard. The bathrooms had a lot of corrosion in the showers and sinks in both mens and womens and were dirty. Little has been done to maintain any sort of up keep of this property and everything is very outdated. That would have been fine if it wasn't dirty as well. A lot of old wrecked caravans were dotted around the property...all very shabby. We learnt from locals that this couple are infamous for their awful behaviour. In the end we travelled around the area and camped closer to Waiuku. Even that far away these people had a bad reputation and the owners of our next camp ground were well aware of the Big Bay Camping grounds...

And a shop on premises for the basics too. Showers are just $1 and run for 5 mins. If the weather was better we would have enjoyed it a...
