I don't usually leave comments on Google Maps, but Connemara Country Lodge is probably one of the best lodges I've ever stayed at. I ended up here unexpectedly due to poor time management and was simply hoping to find somewhere to stay for the night. But this place far exceeded my expectations of an ordinary lodge.
The owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming, which immediately made me feels like home. The room had a stunning view overlooking the harbour and surrounding farms from a hilltop; a peaceful landscape that truly helps you escape the noise and chaos of city life. If you're looking for a quiet place to clear your mind, this is it.
Although we arrived under a cloudy sky and didn't get to see many stars, the experience was still unforgettable. The house is filled with beautiful paintings, and the historical, old-fashioned style of the layout adds a charming, cosy character. The large lobby is perfect for relaxing or spending time with friends or family.
There's also free Wi-Fi and reliable internet access, something many other motels lack. The food was homemade, delicious, and felt very natural, like a warm meal from someone who cares. Before coming here, I never thought I'd enjoy being 'stuck' in the middle of nowhere, but this place completely changed my mind. Sometimes, the best memories are made when things don't go...
Read moreWe attended a family wedding at Connemara Lodge and stayed two nights with our hosts Groinne, Kevin and Max (the super friendly sheepdog). We were made to feel at home from the moment we arrived and were shown our delightful family room. Our room had all the comforts you'd expect from a top quality guest house and extras you wouldn't necessarily expect such as chocolates and icy cold flaked water. The room was of course spotless and the view from the deck was amazing. Our hosts provided us with dinner on the first night with real no-frills home cooked food. We ate succulent slow cooked beef (off their own land) with fresh vegetable and new potatoes. I'm not sure how we managed Grionne's home made chocolate brownie but it was delightful. We washed our dinner with beer from Kevin's well stocked fridge. Next morning, we woke to our spectacular view and a wholesome breakfast. (Our daughter collected the eggs). Our wedding went well and our hosts couldn't possibly have done any more to help us. If you want a posh hotel with all the airs and graces you might be disappointed. If you want top notch country house accommodation, great food and AMAZING, warm hosts THIS...
Read moreMy partner and I got married here a couple of weeks ago and we couldn’t recommend this venue more. We booked our date over a year in advance and had multiple visits to the venue over that time, and could’ve had more if we needed. The day of the wedding the weather ended up being less than ideal and things got really chaotic, but Kevin and Grainne, the owners, went above and beyond on the day and every day before the wedding to make sure things went as smoothly and as close to how we wanted as possible. It’s a beautiful space, where we stayed the wedding night as well and got breakfast cooked for us by Kevin and Grainne the next morning. I really couldn’t praise them more, on top of the stunning location for the ceremony and reception, as well as tons of places to take photos, they were so sweet and helpful throughout! Thank you...
