Craziest experience We have been travelling around the world and in nz for 6 weeks now, and this is the worst experiece we ever had. I usually never leave a negative review becuase im quite tolerant and is of the opinion «you get what you pay for». But i feel like i have to warn others, becuase the stay made me shaking and sad. To be objective: 1. The ad is lying saying its new renovated. This is ongoing, leaving the groud floor messy and dirty. 2. Workers/painters were there when we arrived and woke up and obvisely smelled like paint in the whole house. 3. The ad said it was a shared kitchen, but it was not functinal. The host said herself that it would take 1,5 hours to boil potatos. 4. It took time before we got any hot water in the shower + no shampoo 5. No ventilation at the bathroom - window had to be open - very cold. 6. No way to lock room. We would normally not care about these things, but the main problem is that the host is rude and we did not feel welcome at all. And i tell you why: 1. The first thing she says is not «welcome, or how are you», but «you arrive too early» as we were standing in the driveway. (At 15:50). 2. Warned us that the house was full with dust becuase of renovating and came up with excuses why the house was in bad condition. Was not humble about this issue. 3. Host walks around in a wardrobe 4. Guests cant walk in and out as you wish - you have to knock the door to enter. 5. Yelled at me saying i was respectless for bringing a box with dry food in the room and made me feel like i was the worst person in the world for doing so. 6. She screamed at me and i was shaking but quite tried to explain our experience, but she would let me talk, just slammed the door in my face. To sum up: you really should not rent out a place when its under renovation becuase then you dont get what you pay for. At least be honest and humble about the situation. You have to tip toe around in the house as there are strict rules and she is watching you! Claire, if you read this, you should really be nicer to people.

Lots of clear notices around the house as to what the rules are... Shame about the lack of information on the online booking websites about the strict arrival time window and per-person late check in fees. We'd communicated our arrival plans earlier in the day, but not been contacted or advised they would class as "late", until after we arrived (attached image). We would have been more than obliging if we'd been contacted or known about the strict time requirement. "That'll cost you $100" was almost the first thing our drunk host ranted to us on our arrival. The "studio" accommodation is actually a horse transporter truck.

I’ve been biking around New Zealand, and this stay was one of the highlights. The host went above and beyond—offering helpful advice on where to go next and even giving me a free safety jacket out of concern for my journey. The room was lovely, cozy, and comfortable, but the dogs were the real stars. It truly felt like a little taste of home.

Terribly rude, abrupt and unkind owner. I booked last minute as I was working, had long hard days.. I booked quickly and didn't have time to read the strict arrival times which is my bad. When I called the host to apologize as we had to work late and we're running behind, she was extremely abrupt and unkind. I've never been spoken to so rudely before. I can see others have had a simular experience.. if you can't be kind, don't host humans! I didn't stay here because I felt unsafe being on a property with someone so rude and lost my money! Would never recommend! Do better!

Thanks for your response below.. more rudeness, so you have proved my point. I was actually working in Auckland, leading a significant crew packing down an event.. So as you can imagine, not everything goes the plan. Your assumptions are wild.. I see you even accused your guests of being hookers because they arrived in separate cars, how awful. I'm sooo glad I heard your true colour's the one time I called you and avoided ever having to meet you! So thank you for that, you actually did me a...

Would not visit again. We felt like an intruder in their home. Inside the house a camera is recording you and your voice is being listened to. We were alerted to this when we received a text from the owner commenting on our discussions we were currently having about the property. She said she was listening to our conversation. When we queried this the owner stated as she had a sign on the entrance gate saying. CCTV 24 hr Video Surveillance this gives her the right to film and record conversations in the house. Check out is 9AM and if you are late there is a $20 late fee. We were charged $5 per person to charge our bike batteries. The dinner and the beds the house were good but the extra beds in the horse float were a bit over the top. The owner would be better suited looking after her horses than...
