I recently needed to stay close to both Green Bay and City facilities in Auckland for a week. A quick Web search before I left Christchurch and I soon established that Lush and Co had great reviews and seemed the perfect location for my trip. Little did I know that a doubly pleasant surprise was in store for me!||On arrival, I was given a genuinely warm welcome and shown to a lovely, clean and spacious room by Margaret. It was neat, modern and clean and had every luxury a worker away from home needs; WIFI, a desk, wardrobes, a couch, heat-pump, huge TV, a fridge and a super comfy bed. The Common areas were airy and simillary welcoming.||My next surprise came later that evening. I had dashed out to eat after a quick shower and on my return, I was introduced to the co-owner, Brian, who by total coincidence, I had met in business 5 years earlier in Christchurch! This was really delightful. I knew then, that I was staying with people of the highest integrity and good character. In short, Brian's company was one that responded to help with much-needed rebuild assistance after the Christchurch earthquakes.||I slept soundly every night in this prestigious home and safe neighbourhood. The continental breakfast was great quality and offered a wide enough range of food to please anyone. Margaret's home cooked pancakes and other baking was sublime!||It was super to catch up with Brian again and to meet his family, at their home. In case you are wondering, this review is every bit as honest, as this total coincidence was remarkable.||Highly recommended on every...
Read moreSpacious room and the gardens were lovely. Breakfast was standard fare and it would have been nice if there was a protein option (peanut butter for toast or yogurt). Buyer beware that the descriptions on booking.com and expedia.com are not clear. We booked on Expedia were surprised to find our room had a shared bathroom and a shared kitchenette space, so there was juggling in the morning to get bio-needs and caffeine needs met. The host told us they only had one unit with a private bathroom. Also, booking.com claims there is tea/coffee in each room which was not the case. Host was friendly and helpful, but we only saw him twice in our 3 night stay. I suggest contacting them after you book to make sure you know what you are getting and then cancel if the room does not...
Read moreThis was a bit of a last minute booking on our last travel day near Auckland (coming from Piha). The photos are a bit misleading. Our room was essentially in the basement (ground level) with a very small garden that faced the driveway. It was littered with trash, but that may have blown in from the rain. It was generally dank down there. The decor was outdated and bathroom quite musty. The bedding was even subpar- there were thick fleece pillowcases on the pillows for summer weather. Breakfast was 2 bananas, a piece of bread, a croissant and granola with no yogurt. Instant coffee. Overall, the owners seemed nice but I think a 4 star rating...
