Reading some of the comments going back 10yrs, it's hard to believe the owners persist in tolerating inconvenient guests wanting to stay! Our stay was about 3yrs ago in the Covid aftermath. First warning sign was the 'do not cross' border across the the middle of reception and the hero picture of Ashley Bloomfield on the wall! Not only were all of our significant party interrogated about our medical history but we were under constant surveillance the entire time by the owner meadnering past for a good look at us, so much so that my brother, his wife, and kids packed up and left! Oh, and "well there's no refunds you know..."! We were told where to park, HOW to park, and DON'T GET THE WHEELS ON THE GRASS!!! Various other blunt directives were issued that now escape my memory. Honestly, it was like Fawlty Towers, only more unpleasant. We left as early as possible the next morning. We still all talk and have a laugh about the crazy lady at Invercargill. Hmmmm.... we wont go there again!!!! Stay at your own risk. Oh, and they are apparently no longer a Top-10 camp. Certainly not top 10 in our estimates either!

Edit: Wow, If you don't like the feedback you can either get better, or you can get bitter. Clearly getting better isn't your priority. My brother left the day he arrived due to feeling interrogated upon arrival and was clearly told "there's no refunds!" which is consistent with other people's similar experiences. Read the reviews! The full newspaper page pinned on the reception wall had a very large and prominent photo of Bloomfield on it - the primary focus of the whole page! Not a lie! And why review now? Well we've all joked and laughed & cringed about the crazy lady in Invercargill ever since we were there. We had intended to do some reviews of the experience but never really got around to it. Strangely enough we were enjoying life and let it go. However I stumbled upon your Google listing last week and read the reviews and saw others who clearly experienced some of the things we had, and that prompted me to finally write down something of our experience. Branding me an outright liar is pretty damn offensive, doubly so when you do the same to my son - you clearly don't know him at all! All I will say is that my comments are absolutely true and certainly have a lot in common with your other disgruntled "guests". EVERYWHERE ELSE we stayed was an absolute joy - West Coast, Queenstown, Catlins, Dunedin - all were crazy friendly, RESPECTFUL, polite, helpful. Your place is immaculately kept, but your hospitality is definitely lacking! There ya go. You can...

I am another person who was with the party who stayed three years ago with John Taylor. Like Matt I wouldn’t have left a review if it wasn’t for the response of the owners.

I couldn’t believe the motor camp owner stating that we never stayed there. Our eftpos receipts say otherwise.

We stayed in March and was part of a large family staying in campervans.

We stayed one night, which in hindsight was one night too many.

The facilities are certainly very good, and the bathroom and toilet areas are kept clean and in good condition.

It is the people running it and their general attitude and unfriendliness that are the issue.

To state we never stayed there and that we are making it up is hilarious. The liar is certainly not John Taylor.

Where to start with the rude and outright denial and lies of the owners.

We certainly did stay there for one night in March 2022.

There absolutely was a big picture of Ashley Bloomfield in the reception area it looked like a shrine to him.

The whole area was taped off with yellow tape all over the floor to delineate where to stand, and where to enter.

We were all laughing about it and thought how mad it was. We should have had an inkling of what was in store with that alone.

We all got grilled on our vaccine passes, and she did ask multiple questions about it.

My brother arrived later and made the decision not to stay. We were going to leave, but were told we would not get a refund.

Interesting she now is denying that any of this happened. I am in agreement with both John and Matt in relation to how we were treated.

The owner was rude, snappy and certainly made us feel like we were an imposition on her.

It was as if she didn’t have irritating guests to stay she would be fine.

After we checked in, it was no more than 10 mins before she came patrolling past.

This happened multiple times over the next few hours and continued the following morning.

That combined with the unfriendly attitude and general rudeness of her both when we checked in and when dealing with her made for a tense unpleasant stay.

To state that some people should not go on holiday and don’t know how to have fun – I would state some people shouldn’t own motorcamps and deal with people.

I note in the reviews the very rude responses and defensiveness of the owners to any negative reviews.

Judge for yourself if you are unfortunate enough to book in...

A powered site was $36/night, which isn't out of the norm, but their sites are some of the smallest I've ever seen. One of the faculty was also quite rude when approaching my site, complaining about the state of it (it had a few dog toys out that my dog was investigating, not glass bottles strewn about or garbage covering the ground). The aforementioned toys were brought to me by a friend, who went to reception as a visitor, but no-one was there, so she came to my site. The faculty member was bordering on hostile, saying 'this is private property', and brushing off being told that reception was empty.

It is in a decent location if you want to drive everywhere, as it's only 5-10 mins to the centre of town, but as someone who prefers walking when i can, it isnt very close to anything.

The bathrooms are clean, but the lights operate on a timer of about 6 minutes. Understandable, but the motion sensors dont cover any of the stalls, so when you're having a shower, they will go out and not come back on again unless someone else enters, or you leave the stall yourself. The hot water is also pitiful, with a small nozzle powered by a pressure system that i'm sure was intended for a garden drip system. I had two showers there and they both ran out of hot water very quickly. Either there is a hot water limit that i didn't know about, or their system was garbage.

It is very quiet, if...

The most cleanest, most value and the most beautiful paid campsite we've ever come accross on our South Island trip! 😁 Definitely worth every penny spent, at $62 per night for 3 people for a powered site on a summer season even! You get 2 kitchens, 1 a bit compact than the other, beautiful, clean and hotel-esque communal bathroom and shower plus a park like setting is just wow. It is slightly just out of town but it has to be, for it to have that tranquil sounds of nature but still be close to town, its just perfect. The powered sites are concrete pads with a bit of grass on the sides with a bonus of a small picnic table, perfect for those outside dinners. Theres communal bbq area too that are free, washing machines and dryers at $2 each. Cabins are well equipped too and well placed around the camp. So glad we picked this one on to book and will definitely be back and be on our go to places whenever we are down south. Thank you so much for the hosts and invercargill.. 😁

Was in Invercargill for work, and as it was organised last minute, this was the only place that was available. It is a little bit of a drive out of town, but if anything that makes it more attractive. The surrounding nature is so serene and peaceful. The motels are so nice and modern, and the lady who was working when we checked in was so friendly and kind. If I have the opportunity to visit Invercargill again, I know where I want to stay

Loved our site right next to facilities, everything very clean and tidy and a good location out of town. We didn't see a playground? But weren't there that long so maybe there was one further away from where we were. Thanks guys, good luck for the season!
