My partner and I recently stayed at Fyffe Country Lodge over the weekend, and I can honestly say it was one of the most beautiful and exquisite places I have ever visited. Everything from the entrance way, to the views, to the lovely hosts - made the already amazing weekend, in Kaikoura, even more spectacular. The night that we were staying, we arrived later than expected, as climbing Mount Fyffe, took us longer than we had anticipated. Eventually we arrived, looking pretty rough, and much later than we had told our hosts. Not only did they welcome us (in our disheveled state), they then proceeded to inform us that they had upgraded our room, free of charge (needless to say, we were over the moon). I also informed them that I had recently proposed to my partner (at the top of Mt Fyffe to be exact), and they then offered us some complimentary champagne to celebrate. In the morning we were greeted with stunning views of both Mt Fyffe and the ocean out our bedroom window. We were offered a home cooked breakfast, with a lovely array of fruit and cooked items, the entire time having the hosts chat with made the entire experience beyond wonderful. Unfortunately, the review will only allow me to give 5 stars, but if I could I would give a lot more. Simply cannot recommended this place enough, and just want to thank them for such a wonderful stay.

I have to say at the beginning if it would be possible I would have give them more then 5 stars. My partner and I stayed at Fyffe Country Lodge for one night and I can honestly say it was one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever visited. Everything from the entrance way, to the room was perfect. The Best were the lovely hosts they were highlight. I have never had soooooo friendly hosts. It was amazing. The room was clean and very nice. And the breakfast they do everything you want. You can choose between different sorts of fresh brewed coffee, they make you the eggs you want, bacon of you want and also fresh made toast. And then you also have a buffet with cereals, yoghurt and fresh fruits. Excellent. If you are searching for a hotel in Kaikoura go to this lively people, you will not regret it.

We spent one night with Chris & Colin at their lovely property. It was far & away the best night spent anywhere in our 2.5 wk trip in NZ. The property & grounds are beautiful. The dinner they prepared was outstanding. The salad was made of approx 90% things they’d grown on site. They are warm & friendly and made us feel like friends rather than clients. If you are looking for not the ordinary hotel stay, this is the location to head to. I’m sure our dinner was better than anything we could have gotten in town. Do not hesitate to book here!

We were a group of 5 that booked in at Fyffe Country Lodge so we could have a long weekend exploring Kaikoura and do some whale watching. The lodge is run by Chris and Colin and is on the outskirts of Kaikoura, just a minute from the Air Kaikoura airport. It's a very grand house that's beautifully appointed with some of the rooms in the main house and some on a wing next to the house.

Our hosts were amazing and told us to feel right at home - which we did! As it was my Birthday, we were upgraded to the Mount Fyffe Suite - which is sumptuous with a separate lounge area, a huge bedroom and lovely bathroom. The views from our window, and in fact from all of the lodge, are of bucolic farmland with mountains in the distance and just superb.

We booked in for a dinner at the lodge on our first evening and enjoyed beautiful food using many locally grown and sourced locally sourced ingredients - including Chris' vegetable garden! Our breakfasts were marvellous with plenty of home-made options - and even a good coffee machine with Colin at the helm each morning to make our suite of flat white coffees!

The dining room is quite large as this beautiful homestead is a place for special family gatherings, or weddings. So we were the only people in the dining room - which felt rather grand given we only occupied one table but still very comfortable - and warm! On the second evening, we headed into town for dinner (Zephyr, which was amazing) but had drinks from the bar at the lodge. One of our group is a sommelier and Chris and Colin were happy for him to jump behind the bar and mix us up some Negronis - perfect! They do have a good bar and quite a few wine options, so its definitely a good spot for a pre-dinner drink too! When we left, we hugged Chris and Colin - we felt like in two days, we had become friends. My summary - luxurious, welcoming,...

The Fyffe Country Lodge is a little piece of heaven, totally relaxing. In fact I had the best nights sleep of our trip to New Zealand. The setting, with beautiful gardens and views up to the mountains is beautiful. Don’t be put off by its proximity to the road. You can’t hear it inside. The owners, your hosts, Chris & Colin make you feel very welcome. They are kind and generous with their time. The room was gracious, spotless with a wet room en-suite. Fresh milk was provided for tea/coffee in the room. We had booked for dinner(you need to book) in a beautiful dining room. Not only did this couple come through Covid they also had to do three years of restorations following the 2016 earthquake. They are resilient. Dinner was fresh, tasty and well presented. I had a fresh garden salad with feta, mint and a dressing, followed by crayfish - a real treat. Affogato and a liqueur to finish. Breakfast was a buffet of fresh fruit, juice, cereals, granola, yoghurts followed by my choice of poached eggs, bacon and tomato. Hot toast and fab coffee. A special place in which to unwind and enjoy the hospitality. Wish we could have...
