Location Kohukohu isn't a big town. It has a small supermarket within the very small city center that's also the harbour. The backpacker's location is in the forest. Therefore it's very quiet. There are animals and you can explore trail to a the lookout to lake. The backpackers looks like a big tree. All rooms are build by the owners and it's hard to believe how they could created such a lovely and relaxing atmosphere.
Stuff Very friendly and helpful. They offered us to get some of there vegetables when we asked them for the next grocery storeto get some vegetables.
Cleaness The whole backpackers is very clean.
Livingroom Unique! nice couches and awesome seats! Good books and a lot of magazines to read.
Kitchen The euqipment is very good. There is everything you will need. Also there are two big cooking areas you can use. The amount of different herbs is unique, too!!

Read moreOMG, this place is a hidden wee gem. We had the lodge to ourselves. It is basic bunk beds, but everything is supplied. It is quirky and fun. Tranquil, peaceful and serene. No good for someone in a chair or for someone who struggles up and down stairs. As loos are downstairs from the living room, kitchen and beds. Well stocked kitchen with pots and utensils, plates etc. The hosts are more than friendly and accommodating. Really handy to the car ferry to take you to Rawene. Highly recommend this place.
