Maitai Whare Iti — Hotel in Nelson

We just got back from a 4 night stay here and we are wishing we didn't have to leave! It was such a beautiful and peaceful location. It's perfect if you're into mountain biking, or even road riding, it's in the valley with such close access to all of Nelson's best mountain bike trails. It was even the perfect place to say for a day trip out to wairoa gorge mtb park. The whare iti cabins are nestled on the hill amongst native bush and are cosy and well equipped. There is a spacious communal kitchen bbq are and outdoor fire pit to complement the cabins. ||We stayed in the two bedroom house which is spacious and lovely and cosy with the wood fireplace.||Mark and Tania and their daughter Indy are wonder hosts. They lit the fire for us on the evenings that we were home later so the house was cosy and warm to come back to.||The valley has lots of walks, mountain bike trails and swimming holes. This is a really lovely location. Very peaceful and quiet yet only 7 minutes from the city center. Great mountain views, with bush walks to explore. We travelled with two small dogs and it was great to take them on the tracks when we explored the pathways. If you stay in the Chalets the access is steep but the views are worth it. A backpackers paradise. We stayed in the house which was easy to access and can sleep up to 5.
