A simple campsite with lots of space, although we couldn't get a lakefront spot (early Jan). The campsite is 20 minutes down a rural road and there is no civilisation nearby, so make sure you stop for food and water before arriving. There were lots of toilets, though some were nicer than others. The water taps (non-potable) tend to run out around 11am as everyone uses it up. There was a hut for a solar shower and a shelter with tables. The lake heats up a bit during the day and there's a barge you can swim out to. Definitely a good place to kayak and paddle board but no place to hire them on-site.

You must go and stay here, a beautiful spot, loads of space (when not tree felling). Make sure you are 3 meters from another tent or motorhome. Sad they put the price up to $15 a night from $10 in March 2025 grrr

DOC camping site, long drop toilets , not running water so be sure to take your own. Nice place to camp for a few days, good beach for swimming and nice lake for boating or fishing.

Didnt know this place existed and I've lived in Rotorua all my life and 90% of us were the same. Attended 80th birthday there were over 60 of us in our group. Amazing facilities and would highly recommend. Lots of other camping groups too. DOC need to up their game though. As appreciative kiwis and wishing for more of these secluded and beautiful spots we were all keen to pay our fees. Sign said pay at the cabin, the cabin was vacant, honesty box smashed and no one around to collect fees est DOC missed out on approx $1500 that weekend which is really sad as they need this money to maintain these wonderful places. Come on Doc pay a local a % and police these glorious...

Awesome quiet spot. Even on this busy Labour Weekend. There are other campers and people with boats and jetskies but that doesn't detract from the peaceful surroundings. Beautiful clear water. Some tracks to explore. Some options to mountain bike a little on forest trails. Just great. Come prepared as there in no water or waste dump available. Nearest shop is a...
