Cruise up the Whanganui River on a Jet Boat, and then walk about it 20mins in a easy jungle track to reach this awesome historic bridge in the middle of nowhere, and literally doesn't lead anywhere. It's a bridge built with a dream, but eventually abandoned due to lack of funding, and other circumstances. There is an option to power the trip back yourself by canoe on the river. I think that would be an awesome way to view the sceneries on the river at a slower pace then the Jet Boats. With this operator, its just a short section of the river, and many people who tried was canoeing for the first time. So it is definitely doable. There is chance that you might get wet though, as you negotiate a small rapids. Nothing dangerous, just be prepared in case you get wet. Your belongings will be perfectly safe though, with good water tight bins for storage.

Great lodge after a day paddling. We we're fortunate to have the place to ourselves (group of 18) so could spread out across a lot of rooms. Staff assisted with driving stuff up from the river, provided a bar thru the evening and a massive spread for dinner and continental breakfast in the morning. The lodge features great views, a range of bedroom options, fully catered, pigs chooks ducks dogs and a cat (Blackie) to enjoy watching. The place was clean, comfortable, hot showers and flushing toilets, great views, an epic hearty meal and friendly staff. I'd recommend staying a day and chilling there if you can, we didn't have enough time to fully appreciate it.

Wonderful experience. Half our group biked to the Bridge to Nowhere and half of us went by jet boat then walked in to the Bridge. We all stayed at the Bridge to Nowhere Lodge and all canoed down the river the next day. Couldn't fault a thing... great staff, great service and great fun. Our guide, Jonathan, was full of good advice for our canoe trip and had excellent knowledge of the history of the area. Joe, Mandy, Sally and Daryl provided excellent service at the Lodge. We had fabulous meals and lots of fun. This is a must do trip. Thank you all 😊

Our family 2 adults and 2 boys 11 and 13, stayed at the lodge after 2 days paddling Wanganui River Journey . It was an absolute highlight of our trip, friendly hosts, stunning view, comfortable beds in spacious rooms and awesome showers. Dinner was delicious, it was like coming home to stay. Kids loved playing with the ducklings, piglet and board games and we loved the cold wine and beer! We enjoyed chatting to other guests who had come up on the jet boat to walk the bridge stay and canoe back the next day, they were in thier 70s so it caters for all. There was loads of room so we also could have chosen to keep to ourselves too. Would absolutely recommend staying...
