We had originally booked a motel in Pauanui but the roads were blocked so we decided to stay in Whangamata. ||||I am so glad we stumbled across this place on TripAdvisor. The hosts were lovely, welcoming and friendly. They gave us a few recommendations on what to do and where to eat in Whangamata. The lodge is beautiful! It’s tucked up a long driveway, as you drive in, the greenery, gardens and ponds are tranquil. The room was beautiful, warm and clean! The bathtub was big enough to fit two people. The spa was surrounded by beautiful plants and had beautiful lights. They gave us plastic cups for our drinks for the spa and a torch incase we wanted to have a spa at night. ||||They’ve really thought of everything! I’d highly recommend that everyone stops here on your travels. You won’t be disappointed. We’ll...
Read moreThis place is outstanding. We stayed in the Queen Suite, beautifully decorated, looking out on a lovely garden, and just a few steps to a superb spa pool. The interior design is mid-century modern with an emphasis on contemporary interpretation and quality. The kitchenette had all you needed for breakfast, plenty of cutlery and crockery, coffee maker, microwave etc. (and a BBQ). But curiously there was no sink for washing up. I suspect the suite is designed for people staying one night only. When we next stay, and we definitely will, we will stay in one of the two suites, No.1 is a perfectly formed apartment and is the top choice. Outstanding...
Read moreSpent 3 nights (recommend more), the lodges are very well appointed, spotlessly clean and stylish. Ade and Jenny are great hosts with a wealth of information and hints about the various activities you can do. The only drawback is the small choice of restaurants in Whangamata, try for Incognito but they are fully booked much of the time so phone days ahead. If you want a chilled relaxed stay this is the place for you. Only 3-5 minute drive gets you to a stunning beach and you can borrow chairs/sun shade/body board at no charge, as the sun is very strong do take the sun shade if nothing else. Have a great...
