Booked through the website on Thursday for the weekend (2 nights a while ago now), indicated on the booking that we would be late as one of us is working late that night (Friday), so all of our bases were covered and nothing was non-disclosed… then on the way to Cooks beech we get a phone call (8pm while ordering dinner in Tairua) so not far away and knew we had said something, however the Manager rang with ranting and raving on about their office was closed at 6pm (so why was he ringing @8pm???) telling us things like “your payment hasn’t gone through so we don’t normally keep the booking” (but never said that he is keeping or stopping our booking which was confusing), “I have tried 3 times during the day and payment hasn’t gone through” (why didn’t you ring after the second time you tried and during normal day hours if it was an issue???) Very sharp and rude about the whole thing. We said we can sort it out in the morning… we were only 30 minutes away, There was no information to say what room/cabin we could be in or if he was going to be around, or how we could find our room…. This Is Not Hospitality in any way, shape, or form, as I have worked in this industry for years. Clearly the other reviews now a have some merit over them and not by the responses from the manager. We got to the “Resort” and everything was closed (which was expected as it was around 8:40pm), with a notice on the door “for duty manager see website… this is misleading because there was nothing on the website for after hours and ringing the normal number was never answered. Before we choose to drive in to have a look around, I decided to have another look around the office, lucky I did as on the far side of the door was 2 folded maps, both with names and one was ours (if you told us on the phone, we would have known “dumby”) Found our cabin, noticed we had been moved to a different part of the grounds (Re: pic) without consultation but even worse, we were moved next to a worker who was living onsite, so now we don’t feel trusted. We used facilities and noticed a few things needed fixing, hence the photos. And when we finally climbed into bed, the load tent of alcoholics got louder and louder until about 12am. The next morning, we went to pay and was welcomed in with a smile by a wonderful Mexican worker, who knew how to meet and great, clearly the manager needs to learn a few things from this young lady. While trying to pay, we had a few problems with our kiwibank card. And she said to us “oh yeah, this is a new terminal and we have been having problems with it since we have got it”. So Manager question to you, could our Abusive unprofessional phone call just be because “your technology” hasn’t been working right????? We didn’t want to pay the extra fee for PayWave but because the card was not reading after about 20 different tries (technical issues), we had to pay the extra $5.25 paywave fee. Again the young lady was at least apologetic about it. There is more but i have reached character limit.... in conclusion, manager bad, grounds need work and our weekend ruined before it even started. Hospitality needs work. Owner needs to kick...

We stayed at Cooks beach Resort several times . The whole environment is pretty good and really well maintained. Bach or cabin 5 was lovely spacious and had everything we needed plus access to all facilities. The location is very good close to city centre about 8 min walking or 2 min driving. The beach is very close too about same time distance from resort. Really nice to walk to the beach with your cup of coffee or tea to watch the sunrise or just to get some fresh air on the beach. I love the old fashioned style of this place big sections little and big houses. People towing their boats with their tractors and kids been transported in the back of boats or utes. Absolutely love the entire vibe of this place and can’t forget to mentioned the community. My son had a really bad cough that happened to start while we were away. I posted on Facebook community page if anyone had a inhaler he could borrow for the night and a couple of minutes later had some people helping me out. Great place, great vibe and a fantastic place to...

Ive been to Cooks Beach camp about 20+ years ago and enjoyed it with kids. This time was even better. The toilet and shower blocks were immaculately clean, and faultlessly maintained, even for a very picky mech engineer. Not a cracked tile, or leaky tap to be seen. The design is very good and build quality the best Ive seen in nearly 60 years of camping. The kitchen is just as good, very well thought through and implemented. Lawns, grounds, pool, spa are all as good as it gets anywhere. I want to find out how they've done it, when so many high volume places have poor maintenace. The staff are cheerful helpful and happy. If I were to rank all the sites I've been in NZ fromBay of Islands to Queenstown this is clearly no.1.

In relation to the price it is very bad. The showers are intermittent and the water comes out either very cold or very hot. In the kitchen there are no utensils, no napkins, no rags, no pots, no frying pan, no detergent to wash.. we paid 40 each. For half the price we have gone to many better places. We have camped in free places, we are very prepared but this place with the prices they have, has very bad service. I do not recommend it at all, they charge you for a service they do not offer and it ends up putting you in a bad mood.

Absolute Joke. Had booked over a month ago which was confirmed and payed for, had then emailed to add another night which was also confirmed. Today I receive a poorly written email letting me know that my booking has been canceled. The T&Cs state "Any requested bookings less than the above noted minimum night stays is at the discretion of the Manager" obviously the manager was happy with our booking being under the minimum night stay at the time.
