We stayed at Black Sheep farm in mid February, we booked for 2 nights but after the first night we decided to stay an extra night. We then went up north and on the way back we booked for another night as we enjoyed the farm so much. The farm is situated about half way between Langs beach and Waipu Cove, I walked to both easily although it is uphill on the way back. They are both lovely beaches. We had a really lovely sunny room, quite large with its own ensuite which was very modern and beautifully tiled. We had many windows looking out over the farm and out to sea, our room got morning sun which was lovely. The hosts are really genuine friendly people, and as a bonus they have two lovely daughters who play a baby grand piano most evenings, which is very relaxing to have live music in the house. The hosts invite you to share a glass of wine with them in the evenings where you get to know them better. In the mornings they serve up a very tasty continental breakfast with fresh baking, so you are all set for the day ahead. Down in Waipu Cove there is a great restaurant which we used most days, it has a lovely view over the beach. All in All a great place to stay with very friendly people. Would we go back, well we...
Read moreWe stayed one night at Black Sheep Farm on our Northland road trip and wish we had booked to stay longer! Lisa & Anthony were absolutely wonderful hosts, welcomed us like family and couldn't have done more to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We were offered tea and cake on arrival, a glass of local wine as we relaxed in the lounge in the evening and enjoyed a delicious homemade breakfast in the morning of croissants, jams, muesli, yoghurt and fruit. There are loads of travel books (amongst others!) to get lost in, however Lisa & Anthony are also great for a chat about New Zealand and the rest of the world! Our room was beautiful with wooden beams across the high ceiling, a lovely balcony overlooking the luscious green land, an en-suite bathroom and an incredbily comfortable bed. We just wish we'd had better weather to enjoy the surrounding area more and meet their sheep, which graze right outside their property. Absolutely lovely stay and we are very grateful to Lisa & Anthony for their kindness and...
