What a peaceful and beautiful campsite. We had a brilliant 3days stay. We were traveling from the Bay of Plenty and the road was good. Alright for the small cars. This lovely campsite is by a beautiful river. The water was clean and very cold. But we brought bottled water to drink and cook. For everything else, we got water from the river. There were no taps. There are few clean toilets. Very minimum facilities but that's all you want if you love to enjoy more of nature.

We went in early November. Not crowded, only a few camper vans. We put up our small tent. The weather was lovely except for the small showers on one night which wasn't very bad. No mobile network at all we didn't worry about it though. So much space for children to play. We had a real camping experience....

We loved it here, particularly parked right on the riverside....the mighty Mohaka River. Stayed overnight in our campervan & would have stayed longer but weather forcast was not that good for next day. Shade under huge trees if you prefer shade. Some small beach area's on the riverbank so access to river is pretty easy. Lupin bushes on river bank could do with controlling. 3 different (clean) toilet blocks spread out across park, take own loo paper. Perfect for kayaks & trout fishing, paddling, swimming. Take plenty of your own...

Mixed review for me. It's a lovely little spot. Close to the river, surrounded by hills. Green, pretty and quiet. When you have 3 dogs with you, it's a different story. We hoped to do lots of exploring, hopefully finding places we could let the dogs off lead for a run. But once you are there, you are landlocked. If you want a relaxing time, no dogs, this is a great place to stay. If you have dogs,...

Lovely spot however the cyclone damaged it. Toilets are gone and we got bogged pretty quickly. Thanks to the farmer up the hill and a ranger we got out and camped under the big tree at the entrance. Although beautiful it's all sand and not as nice as it once was. Be careful of being bogged with big motorhomes.
