Golden Springs Holiday Park — Hotel in North Island

WARNING!!! WARNING!!! Don't be fooled by the photos, the brick Motel units are rather pleasant. Unfortunately the wooden cabins are in a shocking state of disrepair, my wife and I rented cabin 3. We were made to pay $230p/w for a cabin that had holes in the exterior walls with birds and Rat's residing in said holes, White tail spiders are every where, and we were made to leave approximately two weeks prior to Christmas because they could get more money for the cabin over the Christmas period. Hence we were left with no place to go!!! The Asians that run the place are flying a 1% Asian Motorcycle Gang Flag out the front as that gang is financing the place and have Gang Members now residing their. They also have a lovely young Asian women and her daughter their doing all of the house keeping work that they refuse to pay her for, saying the work she does is to pay for her and her daughter's way. Which is appalling, dishonest and just outright wrong. The pool is unusable, same with the flying Fox, the hot pools are disgustingly dirty and their idea of fixing the place up was to throw a fresh coat of paint in and on the toilet block's too make them look cleaner rather than actually clean them. The place is DANGEROUSLY UNSAFE!!! Which the local council agreed and gave them a time frame in which to repair the place. I believe that they have done the bare minimum to meet the standard required, but it is still unsanitary, unsafe and over priced. Except for the Brick Motel Units. They are clean and tidy, but expensive($4-500 p/w). The Asians are money hungry and you definitely do not get what you pay for!!!! So Please. Be Warned. My wife left that property very, very ill, to the point she had to go to the Hospital in order for her to be able to function the way us New Zealand White people are accustomed to. Normal every day life. You put your family at risk staying at the place. You have been warned. Please do not take your Children their to stay. They Will become very ill. I booked online not knowing what I was getting for my money. I rung to confirm booking,they had no idea when I booked. Arrived met a man called Frank he could not speak English so I spoke to a lady called Fiona. They tried to charge me an extra $110 how desperate are these people. They Found my booking which was $240 not $350. The accommodation was disgusting rooms smelled like mould and their towels and there was no sky or tv. No heater so it was a cold night. ||I do not reccomend going there it is filthy and disgusting. The so called thermal I was told was cold and they reccomended going some where else. What am I paying for?. False advertising do not reccomend it because it is filthy and mouldy. Next time I will read the reviews where I stay next.Not a good place to go. Very cold and dark with all trees. The lawns not kept. Very old furniture and you have to pull a string to turn on the light. Looks like they have been there since 70s Haha. Do not reccomend and bad customer service....

Where do we start ? We ran late on booking accomodation for Around Tuapo Cycle Event, so rolled with a late booking. We arrived late as traffic leaving Auckland was slow, we phoned ahead and they said no problem. I have stayed in a few Kiwi 60 & 70 styles holiday parks, Seaview on the Tararaki Coast as an example, they are just as old, but just better kept. The Golden Springs Holiday Park is a joke and they are seriously taking the piss!! You are paying for a bed that's it, in our case 2 singles we pushed together. Everything else is broken. In its day you could stop here and really enjoy the properties hot springs, which look like they were amazing. Now it's all taped off, save yourself the gas and upgrade your stay somewhere else.
