Paid $800 for 7 days and was told no visitors. Kitchen cabin 6 advertised at $85per night. Myself and my 2 babies 8months and 18!months stayed for 7 days as emergency accommodation due to a complication with the accommodation we were meant to go to. I paid $800 for these 7 days (I pay this back to Winz as they paid for it in full and I pay them back) and I was told I was not allowed visitors...I paid almost $250 more than the going rate abut I’m not allowed any visitors, my 2 babies were not allowed visitors.
On our second nite stay me and my 18minth old went outside so I could have a smoke and she just likes to follow me ....when we got outside the extremely high stench of weed was waffling from neighbouring cabins...so strong that I had to put my daughter back inside. On my third nite there was a party happening in the tent section...normal music laughing and merriment till about 1am, that was fine....it’s summer good on them. The following day unexpectedly I received a txt from my 69 year old mother saying she was at the gate...this was about 730pm. This was a surprise to me as she lives 2hrs away. She was dropping off some food for us and picking up some of my packed bags to take back to hers because she was being nice as I was complaining about having to do 2 trips with our gears to get to the camp and I will have to do it again when I leave.
In my culture and many others, we don’t tell our elders to go away...
I gave her dinner and let her rest....and yes I did want her to stay...she is 69years old and drove 2 hours to to be helpful. She was not staying the nite, she was just resting before she made the 2 hr drive home....I did tell her to stay but she said no she likes her bed. At 10pm she was having a cuppa tea and getting prepared to do the 2 hr drive when the guy came over and in front of my mother and loud enough for other people to hear, said to me “you were told you are not allowed visitors” I told him she was my mother and just drove 2hrs to get here so I am not telling her to go....then he said he don’t care and I shouldn’t have invited her!...accusing me of inviting her over to...I don’t know, flaunt their rules....invite her over to cram us in to the little cabin. He then preceded with attitude to say they have 20mins to leave or else then walked away....he returned a min later and had the audacity to offer my mum a $85 room next to ours for $110. My mother was so flawed by his rudeness towards me and towards her she didn’t finish her cuppa tea and grabbed her bag and left. If he took me to the side and said hey we said no guests blah blah I would have told him she was leaving and apologised for her surprise visit to drop them and pick up stuff....she is an elderly Maori 69 yr old pensioner it’s not like we were partying and smoking pot disturbing other campers....
UPDATE: I think my point has been missed.... the point is how ur husband spoke to US about it when he should have spoken to me only. I also don’t appreciate being lumped into a category of miscreant which is what appears you have placed beneficiaries into. Just because winz payed for this accommodation initially doesn’t mean myself or any other person should be classed any less than the next joe blogg who checks in. Yes my daughters dad came and put our daughter to sleep, 15-20m tops....he was leaving when ur husband arrived....clearly this previous person left a bad taste in ur mouth....caused trouble I’m guessing...I’m here with my 2 babies waiting on our accommodation to b ready on Wednesday.....my elderly mother looks tired and old....neither of us read trouble or misbehaviour and most definitely shouldn’t be spoken to like we were...low life criminals is how it felt.!! I have 2 business degrees and a computer degree. I have owned 2 businesses and several houses. I have bn in retail management for 15 years and up until a year ago had only received child care assistance from winz...I have a right to be treated as me and not what is believed winz beneficiaries should be segregated as....our cash spends...
Read moreWatch out for this camp, I found the owners to be both unkind, unreasonable and not well informed. My daughter and I stayed in their family unit, with her 3 young children, which was Ok actually. We left the unit clean and tidy. However we (me) had used tumeric for cooking, which as it does got on to the dish cloth and tea towel, and some spots on plates, bench top, cooking utensils -- all easily removed with standard washing process. After we left the owners made it sound like we had had a tumeric paste orgy by emailing me heaps of silly videos and images. Seems they hadn't bothered or don't understand how to clean these houshold materials, as they can easily be -- the very opposite they are claiming it is an insurance job, and stung me $300, without any discussion or agreement! Later I provided the owners with detailed evidence of how these food stains are easily removed from these types of household materials. Now I'm having to take legal action to recover my money, meanwhile having to wait 20 business days for ANZ to investigate what is...
