Harbour View Motel — Hotel in North Island

My recent stay at the Harbour View Motel was an unexpected delight. Arriving after a long journey, we were prepared to settle for anything, but our host had a pleasant surprise in store for us. Upon check-in, the host initially showed us to the room I had originally booked. It was a nice room, but what truly made our stay special was when he offered to upgrade us to a room with a breathtaking view of the harbor, all at no extra charge. This unexpected gesture immediately set a positive tone for our stay. The upgraded room was nothing short of fabulous. It was notably larger than our original booking, providing us with more space to relax and unwind. But the real showstopper was the view. From our window, we were treated to a magnificent vista of the harbor, which was truly a sight to behold. Watching the changing colors of the sunset was a highlight of our stay. The breakfast at the Harbour View Motel was sufficient and reasonably priced, offering a variety of options to suit different tastes. It was a great way to start our day and fuel up for our adventures in the area. Our host at the motel had a wonderful sense of humor, making us feel welcome and at ease throughout our stay. His friendly demeanor added a personal touch to our experience and made us feel like valued guests. In terms of cleanliness, the room was spotless, and we felt comfortable and safe during our entire stay. This attention to cleanliness was especially reassuring given the ongoing concerns about health and hygiene. Overall, our stay at the Harbour View Motel exceeded our expectations. Stayed 2 nights. Terri was lovely & very accommodating. Came back for another night - a faulty fire alarm went off & I spoke to Terri's employee. They turned alarm off at a box with a key. I had left and about an hour later my friend who was in the room, got a knock at the door. It was 2 employees, (who perhaps thought the room was empty?). They entered the room, looked around at personal belongings and asked my friend to climb on the bed to push a button on the smoke alarm (it's the type of alarm that doesn't have a button) My friend declined to do so and the disgruntled employee said 'well expect the fire department then. It felt as though both employees were there to look through our belongings. Following, that, my friend went to Reception to advise that the light on the alarm was still flashing and asked what should we do? The employee said 'well it's not my fault and the fire depot are coming'. Rather than knock on the door and offer another room so that the fire dept could check the room we were given, the employee was rude, had an accusatory attitude and very unhelpful. My friend felt violated, unsafe and unsettled. I went to Reception and advised that we would like to leave and get a refund. The employee was hesitant to ring Terri as she advised she had already called her 4 times. I said that I would be happy to speak with Terri. The employee called and Terri was more than happy to give a refund. Bottom line: Terri is a great host,, the employees however are dodgy! Beware of motel staff who may go through personal...

Had a Day away from Auckland to do the Train Ride and Zipline and Harbourview Motel was A++. Rooms great size. View and deck just right. BED, best night's sleep ever, even mentioned to Owner Jos when leaving. Everything that was needed was there. So Ticks and thumbs up for everything. Close to everything. Smiles all round.

Glad the big boat didn't park round the back. Saw it come in when going to town lol.
