My husband and I got married at the Hillbrook Estate in February of 2025. We had an incredible 3 days on the property with some of our friends and family. We planned our stay from the other side of the world with the help of the amazing staff at the Hillbrook and recommended vendors. I stumbled across the Hillbrook on Instagram and after hearing back from Nadia we knew that the Hillbrook was the one. From our initial conversation, Nadia was extremely helpful in answering all our questions and pointing us in the right direction with vendors and activities for our stay. She put us in touch with the property manager, Felicity, who was lovely and very responsive before and during our stay at the property. Felicity and Nadia were very accommodating leading up to our stay, always finding the time to answer our texts and facetimes despite the time difference. Felicity and Edger were so great to us during our stay taking us down to the beach and being available with any questions we had about how to work the appliances in the house. We had never visited the property prior to our stay but we were blown away by the house and surroundings. Pictures do not do the Hillbrook justice. We, along with all of our guests, were in awe of the property. Every direction you looked you saw nothing but beauty. The house had everything you needed and was very clean. Upon arriving Felicity took us on a tour of the property. There was a welcome basket of local goodies which were delicious. We brought in our own food for the first night, so we could catch up and cook using the BBQ. Everyone loved their rooms and we didn’t feel like we were too crowded with 18 people in the house. The day of our wedding was so relaxing. We were able to wander the property while the vendors started setting up for the wedding. We used Coastal Elopement Co, who took such good care of us and made sure everything was beautiful for our big day. The weather was perfect, so the guys got ready outside and in the stables, while the girls got ready upstairs. The walk to the ceremony lawn was something out of a movie. I look at our pictures and think they look fake with how beautiful they are. After the ceremony, Felicity drove my husband and I to the beach to take pictures while our guests relaxed on the lawn near the house and enjoyed the views, drinks, and food. Our dinner table was located on the lawn outside the house and we were able to enjoy the sunset and full moon with some good conversations and laughs. We really wanted a relaxed day, so our guests enjoyed hanging outside and then moved inside to the kitchen table for a few rounds of cards. I loved that we had the whole day after our wedding to enjoy the property. We had a beach day with our guests, followed by the pool and hot tub. We did decide to hire the Hillbrook’s private Chef, Lance, for our last dinner. The food was very delicious. Our trip was truly surreal, as we had our immediate families together from both New York and New Zealand. Every one of us felt like we were in a dream for our 3 day stay on the property. I cannot recommend the Hillbrook enough. We will definitely be making a trip back!

Superb property. Amazing location perched just above the coast north of Whangamata. It was a privilege to stay. Ideal property for groups (max 20 guests) Rooms are thoughtfully appointed. Quality linen & plenty of feather pillows. Excellent quality comfortable beds. Kitchen is very well stocked with all essentials & more. (Buy a bag or two of ice & pop in freezer for your stay.) The interior decor is very tasteful. Citta featuring throughout. Large feather filled couches & generously sized rooms. Fireplaces & wall heaters to keep warm. Baskets of wooden throws dotted around to keep you toasty if sitting outside in cool evenings. Outdoor fireplace is a great evening spot. The additional stables accommodation are great additions. Also superbly fit out they are accessed via the laundry or driveway but close enough to feel part of the main accommodation. The stables are fully self contained with the spa pool located in front of them. The property has very helpful Estate managers that live on the property & another off site property manager. They will meet you on arrival & again on departure. They are available should you need anything throughout your stay otherwise they will leave you to it. I highly recommend this property to all groups looking for a discerning property in one of New Zealand’s most beautiful coastal locations.

Beautiful estate overlooking a wide expanse of ocean out to the edge of the earth. (I don't think the earth is flat after all)

I found this place by chance online whilst looking for a get away for my whole family for my 50th bday celebrations. We must have looked at it online about 50 times so felt we knew the place well before we even arrived. Whilst the photos are awesome and give you a very clear idea of the house, the magic happens when you arrive. You are greeted and given and extensive guided tour of the house by the onsite manager. Everything is explained clearly. The linens are gorgeous, the kitchen has everything you could need and top quality. And the fresh fruit and bread and wine were just perfect as an arrival gift. The weather for us wasn't great however perfect because we could just stay and enjoy the house. The fireplaces and heaters heated it beautifully, there were extra blankets if u needed. Plenty of towels for the pool and the spa. The big dinning table meant we could all eat together. Plenty of hot water and the showers were divine. We got to have a walk around on our last day which was lovely. Only minor downfalls were the spa was tricky to get into esp if a little less nimble, and the couches are quite low so if older or aren't so mobile they can be tricky to get out of. All in all it was AMAZING and we would highly recommend. Thank you for making it the best bday celebration, I couldn't have...
