Island View Holiday Park — Hotel in North Island

If you are visiting new zealand and you want to experience the paradise we have in our country...Island view holiday park and its staff epitimises this exact thing.Lorne and the great kiwi and international staff are very warm and very accommadating and very arduos workers in their roles.This holiday park is five star...the showers are free and warm ur bones from your journeys.The kitchen and cooking facilities are immaculate with excellent stainless steel bbq hotplates to cook with.There is kayaks surfboards and the beach is private and the sand more golden than a lot of other beaches in nz.The accommodation is superb ranging from tent sites to powered sites to cabins and these are excellent and affordable...They are all clean to and modernized with the times...and within each cabin zone is a stainless bench top for all four cabins to use so everyone has their own facilities within their zone.Theres also hammocks bicycles an excellent swimming pool and a tennis court and even a beach volleyball zone and they have a playground pirate ship!!...WHAT MORE COULD ONE ASK FOR...THIS REALLY IS THE BEST NZ ZEN ZONE....U MUST VISIT HERE.THEY HAVE IT ALL AND AT THE MOMENT THEY ARE BUILDING A NEW GAMES ROOM...IM A KIWI AND I DONT WANT TO GO HOME...thanks lorne and melanie and paul and camille you are all gems.P.S the fishing around here is second to none.Nuff said and from a kiwi to.you heard...

UPDATE: 03 Jan 2023 - Sadly we will not be returning. One of the owners Lorne, was unnecessarily rude and aggressive toward my daughter and my friend. He backed down slightly when the men returned. Totally unecessary behaviour and I think an apology is needed. Very uncalled for to alienate paying, returning customers who promote the park and how wonderful the staff are. Such a pity to have a leader of this calibre allowed to behave like he did. ----------------------------------------Previous Review:- Great friendly family Park. We had 5 powered campsites (4 families) and friends booked into a cabin. This is our 3rd year spending Christmas/ New Year and the facilities only seem to get better and better with each visit. Staff are AWESOME - super friendly and accommodating. The Laundry, kitchens, showers and toilets were always clean and tidy. The kids love the Tennis Court, Games room and the pool is great if u have littlies or if u love relaxing in and around a pool. Beach was literally 30 second walk from our tent. Reception even offer gelatos AND coffee which was awesome!! Close to Opotiki so if you need to shop there is a New World, a Liquor store and pharmacies to name a few places. I cannot fault their facilities and highly recommend Island View Holiday Park - forgot to mention there are...

VERY RUDE OWNER. After 4 years of coming to this gorgeous campsite our group of 20 will not be returning. Very disappointed how we were treated after asked to move our car. Tried to explain to owner we were looking for parking outside he cut me short and said he doesn't care- "go and park in Opotiki -I don't care!"

I walked off and he followed me telling me I am rude to which I raised my voice - not yelling - and he said I will not be allowed back there next year. When I spoke again he told me I could leave that same night if I want. To which I then kept quiet.

I have always promoted this campsite, staff , owner and facilities. Never in 20 years of traveling have I been threatened to be kicked out of a place and told I cannot return.

Lorne THANK YOU for making us realise that there are soooo many BETTER campsites around. WITH EVEN BETTER FACILITIES. And we are not the only group and people witht this sentiment. Also SUGGEST if you have something to say to your guests to please walk over and tell them yourself and not send another campsite guest who you are having a conversation with to convey the message. UNLESS he was a shareholder.
