Literally the WORST place we stayed in the whole of New Zealand. We could not open the door in the room (the only form of ventilation) because animals outside would wander in. Cobwebs everywhere which showed things were rarely cleaned. Filthy and dusty. The shower would not drain so I had to stand in filthy water (eww...). There were pipes lying outside in the garden in several places (no wonder there were drainage problems). Stagnant water (a health hazard which needs to be reported to Health authorities). Steve tried to fix the shower the next day but it was still not draining properly and by then we'd had enough. We asked him if he would refund the second night. He assured us he would confirm and honour the cancellation but when Booking.com contacted him he reneged. I saw another review here which said he did the same thing with them. He did not keep his word. Don't stay here - it's awful and not worth the money they charge. Booked under the name of Hanson. Stayed in Mid March 2024.
Regarding your incorrect comments after I posted this review - first we were there in March, not April. Second, your other comments about us being racist about Asians - we are Asian ourselves! Nice try, but you completely made that up. The photos don't lie - the place was filthy, you can see drainpipes in two of the pics. We had to wait hours for the shower to be "fixed" and we still were not convinced it would work as it was still making gurgling sounds. Read moreI've been to NZ 15 times over several years. This is literally the worst place we have ever stayed. My sister and I booked a room for 2 nights in March 2024 through Booking.com. The place was awful - very dirty, cobwebs everywhere, and there were no windows, only a door to go outside which you could not leave open as there were animals roaming about, thus no ventilation. Another big issue was the shower drain was blocked, so you literally were standing in dirty water. That was awful. The next morning the water still hadn't drained. Steve was called in to fix it the next day, but even after that it was still gurgling and we were not convinced it would work. Read moreWith my sister, I stayed at Koramatua homestead, in March 2024, and it was disappointing. My sister recently posted a review outlining the problems: we had booked for two nights, but after the first night, we decided it was simply too grubby and the shower had not been working. This is our MAIN point: we paid for the first night, but given the overall state of the place and our problems with the shower, we decided not to stay the second night. The owner PROMISED to refund the second night's charge. However, even though Booking.com has asked him to refund the money to us, he will not do it. He has reneged on his promise to us to refund the money for the second night. My sister posted her review recently, because we have tried repeatedly over the months to get our refund. When we didn't, we decided to make our complaint public via a review. But the host has responded by calling us racist! That's ridiculous - the Asian staff members were great, and we never had a bad word to say against them. The problem is the owner who reneged on his promise to refund our money for the second night. Quite apart from that, we are both Asian too!
Clearly, the owner's response was muddled - apart from everything else, he got the wrong month - and he clearly didn't remember us and he assumed we were white and only causing problems because the staff were Asian!
