Lawn Road Retreat, 150 Lawn Road — Hotel in North Island

I have just had a wonderful 5 days at Lawn Retreat with friends. The attention to detail made this an amazing time as everyone was so comfortable and relaxed . They have thought of everything! The multiple entertaining areas give you so many options and the evening spent sitting under blankets around the outside fire was perfect. Everyone loved their rooms and bathrooms, the beds so warm and comfortable with awesome showers that didn’t mind multiple showers simultaneously at all. We enjoyed collecting the fresh eggs each morning, the location is very calm and quiet but has an incredible array of outdoor activity options. Being winter we made good use of the large hot tub. We used the large meeting room as a yoga studio and one of the other kitchens for someone with dietary requirements so we all ate at the same time. The owner Pen was incredibly welcoming and helpful and sincerely wish we had been there for two weeks instead of one, so relaxing. Wonderful , made a special celebration even...

We had a wonderful 8 nights at Lawn Road Retreat for an extended family holiday. Pen has done a great job renovating the space to make every bedroom a great size with fresh bathrooms. The highlight of the main living space is the outdoor area with barbecue, seating, dining and fireplace all together. We ate outside for every meal. The unexpected highlights were the playground (even the big kids spent plenty of time on it), the pool table in the evenings, and the chickens. The kids were thrilled to feed them and collect their eggs. The pool isn't heated or covered so it was on the chilly side for the adults and could be a bit exposed when the wind picked up, but the kids jumped into the spa when they needed warming up. The hosts are directly next to the house, but the property is back far enough from the road make it feel nice and isolated. Overall we had a wonderful time in the Bay visiting wineries, walking up Te Mata, but mostly making the most of the facilities at Lawn...

Amazing property! We were lucky enough to stay over January while our boys were competing in the annual HawkesBay Cricket tournament. 5 families together, usually utter chaos, but at Lawn Road there was no issues with tripping over one another as there were just that many beautiful spaces to enjoy. Each couple had their own ensuite, all the kids had beds. The boys loved their little 'apartment' down the entrance end to chill, the younger siblings were thoroughly entertained with the playground, playhouse and trampoline, and the adults loved the late night yarns and red wines around the gorgeous outdoor fireplace. Of course the pool was used in abundance, we dabbled with tennis, and had more back yard cricket even after full days at tournament. We even tried out the pizza oven on our last night.
