No sink in the toilet, but there's hand sanitizer in the toilet (long drop). Hot shower actually works (hot not lukewarm), but only allowed a 2 minute shower as per the notice board. So I gave the shower a pass, but used the facility to brush my teeth instead. Since there's no sink and running water, not sure where else one is expected to brush teeth. It's one shower, not 2 as another commenter said 2. The other cubicle next to the shower was locked, no one was there. I thought perhaps it was a gas cylinder in there that was getting the water to heat up so quickly. My guess is the hot shower is from gas not solar. The shower needs a clean as it was quite smelly and moldy, and lots of flying bugs were inside. One very noisy family was there, which detracted from the experience. The dad especially was literally yelling at his children, it was bad. Their family was a nuisance and took away the peaceful vibe of the place. If you bring your children here, don't yell or scream at them - it makes you look incompetent as you clearly lack parenting or adult skills. Make sure your children are well behaved before you bring them here, because otherwise you're a narcissist who doesn't care about the peace of others, but you only think of yourself. There were heaps of other people here and they were all quiet and peaceful, but this one family was full of drama and noise, horrible. I stayed here for one night as had...
Read moreGreat place to park up, take a stroll or cycle and even relax. We saw a bbq and toilet facilities also. The pathway-cycleway toward Arapuni village meanders alongside the mighty Waikato with a short boardwalk through a wetlands where you will see a few different wetland birds. There is also a small cascading waterfalls further along. You will also happen upon huge boulders with (i think) Manuka protruding out of them. Those with a penchant for geological aspects to their explores will love seeing the pebbles poking out of the path cutting along the way. Some are smooth and some have interesting coloured layers. There are many opportunities to sit and take in the beautiful vistas and to also take some wonderful pics. We got about three quarters the way and turned around. We can't wait to do the other bit, from the Arapuni end next time. Just be aware that the path is shared, with traffic going both ways. It is well worth a...
Read moreAwesome freedom camping spot, make sure you get your camping permit through south Waikato council. So amazing the free facilities provided, I will say it is disappointing to see how some people treat them, the showers were at a clean standard when I used them and left them and then someone has used it leaving dirt and leaves or in it. As well as blocking the drain completely so the shower then flooded completely !! It’s just unfortunate that these types of people tend to ruin these ammenities for others by being disrespectful !! NZ is a loving country with so much to offer and all it asks is for respect and kindness in how...
