This is the type of place that you genuinely feel conflicted in leaving a review about- it's so incredible that it deserves to be shouted about, but also somewhere wonderful enough that you want to keep as your own little secret. We emailed the owners, Emma and Colin, directly as we had some trouble booking a tent (on our end, no issue with their booking process!) and Emma could not have been more friendly and helpful. ||||On arrival, we met with Emma, who gave us a tour of the site. Before we'd even gone to our tent, we knew we would love our stay. A fire pit, hot tub, indoor and outdoor dining spaces, and even a shower in a tree- it doesn't get much more magical than this! Everywhere was beautiful and extremely well maintained, with wonderful festoon lighting which made the whole place feel like a fairytale once the Sun had set. ||||Another real plus was being able to hire bikes directly through them- this meant no driving between pick-up points, which when you're there for the winery tours is a real plus... they also kindly provide helmets, hi-vis vests and maps with personally recommended wineries. We followed the recommendations given and managed three, which were all amazing and very accessible, even for a totally novice cyclist like me. ||||On returning to the site, we grabbed our food, which had been very conveniently stored in the provided fridge, and had our dinner outdoors. Then, it was time for a dip in the wonderful hot tub under the stars, followed by drying off around the fire. Here, we heard moreporks hooting in the trees, which was an amazing experience. Once we were dry, we made up the kindly provided hot water bottles (we stayed over Easter weekend, so the weather was a little cooler) and snuggled down in our tent. We chose one of the smaller ones, which was more than spacious enough for the two of us, and had room for an extremely comfortable double bed, two chairs, bedside tables, a towel rail and a couple of tables. It was beautifully decorated and made for a very relaxing place to stay, with lots of lovely little touches including dressing gowns and torches provided. ||||The next morning, we took advantage of the coffee facilities and Emma kindly showed us around the gorgeous house, and explained the fascinating history behind it. We would definitely return to stay in the house during the Winter months- it's a truly stunning property! ||||My husband and I both agree that this is one of the most amazing places we have ever stayed in, and we have both been lucky enough to visit lots of different types of places, all over the world. We are already planning our next trip, and feel very grateful to Emma and Colin for what they have created...
Read moreWe stayed for two nights, [Queens Birthday weekend] in the Clarke Gable room.||||Without doubt, it was a perfect experience from start to finish. The room was warm to arrive to with the heat-pump going. A call to Emma our host made us very at ease and at home.||The room is well appointed with all the essentials needed. A beautiful and comfortable bed in a room so darkened by thermal curtains allowed us a longer sleep-in than planned! The bathroom is large with great shower.||Our only wish was that the real fire worked, though the heat-pump was more than adequate to keep us warm and cozy.||||A nice touch was the provision of bacon, eggs, cereals, bread and milk for our use in the well appointed kitchen which again provided everything needed during our stay.||||The property is exceptionally well presented showing off the Art-Deco era in which it was built. The location and surroundings are peaceful and blissfully quiet with ample outdoor space to enjoy - we will be back in summer to enjoy the outdoor area in warmer times!||||Overall thoroughly...
