I had been looking forward to spending time on a working dairy farm, but our stay at this place far exceeded my expectations. The private cottage is a gem, cozy and designed with great thoughtfulness. Hosts Marain and Noel Hurley greeted us and were patient and friendly, answering our many questions about New Zealand farming. They welcomed us to stroll through their breathtaking property, where the next morning we also met and chatted with their tenant dairy farmer, Brent. The setting is so beautiful and peaceful, we were sorry to leave after only one night. One other note: the breakfast provided in the cottage also was exceptional, particularly the wonderful yogurt and muesli. Our time here will surely rank among the highlights of our entire New...
Read moreThis is a very pretty clean bijou accommodation with friendly host and hostess but we were very disappointed in this, which we felt fell far short of its description. It is small, and the kitchenette is barely adequate for even most basic self catering. What little there was was stored by necessity under sink. The fridge was so tiny as to be useless for our needs, and the laundry facilities not readily accessible other than by arrangement. The bbq was on the owners own private patio so using this felt intrusive. Fine for one night stop to see caves but nothing else in area to commend it. Breakfast minimal. To call it a hotel, even a cottage, is misleading. Obviously many love it,...
Read moreWe had a lovely & relaxing albeit short stay at Noel and Marain's B&B in Otorohanga. The bach is well equipped for a couple's stay with every little detail thought out. It was perfect for a short getaway not too far from Auckland. Although the primary reason for our travel was to visit the Waitomo Glowworm caves, Noel told us about the Mangapohue Natural Bridge enroute to the Marokopa Falls, which was stunning. We managed to pack in a few activities in the short time we were there! The Hurleys were a pleasure to host with @Noel the Malibu is on you when we visit next, which we hope...
