Beware of the management if you have any concerns regarding your room or anything else. I tried to talk to them regarding some issues which have arisen but they wouldn't listen, got very unfriendly, rude and even aggressive and they have basically thrown me out of the lobby with the statement "we don't want to talk to you anymore and now p..s off" I don't remember the exact wording anymore after being so upset and in disbelieve about the whole situation but that's about what they said when they started coursing at me. It all started when I received an email from Jenny regarding my breakfast order. Apparently I ticket all the boxes for cereals where I only needed to tick one. It wasn't obvious to me from the form because it listed everything but didn't say to tick only one. Where as for the spreads you can apparently tick 2?? (because you're getting 2x bread). So I went to the office to talk to Jenny. And she told me that's common sense/knowledge. So I said I must be too stupid to understand that because that doesn't make sense to me. Apparently I'm the only guest who had problems with the form. Ok, maybe I'm just too stupid to understand this form without any explanations like “tick only one” or consistency on the form (I don't think I am) but is it ok for the management to tell a guest basically that he's stupid? I also received a very unfriendly email from Jenny regarding my review. I received an email from Expedia (booked first time with them) with some smileys and items to tick for "Happy with Check-In?". I clicked on some smileys and ticket some boxes and added some impressions of the room. Apparently that was a review I made which I didn't realized at this stage. So I wanted to talk to Jenny about that and why she has sent me this unfriendly email and wanted to explain my observations. I ticket/added the following: Old, outdated (Explanation: bathroom looks old to me with cheap plastic basin and bath, basin cabinet with water damage), Small (first impression was disappointing after seeing Motel photos on expedia, looks much smaller and darker than on photos), Smelly bathroom (after having a hot bath and the whole bathroom is moist with steam and wet), Different than photo (again different to the photos of the hotel room, missing designer lights and decoration, different cheap plastic table), Noisy bathroom fan (faulty fan bearing, noisy even when bathroom door closed). Jenny asked me why I sent such an unfriendly review. I tried to explain that I didn't even realized I was doing one. Also I wanted to explain why and how I made these observations but she wouldn't let me talk, interrupted me again and again so I didn't get a chance to explain. She got very rude and wouldn't listen. I asked how she can talk like this to a guest and I told her that I'm normally a very reasonable person and wanted to discuss the issues like a civilized person. Then she said to me that she explained everything to me and there is nothing more to discussed. If I can't understand her English maybe she should talk to me like to a 5 year old child. That's what she actually said to me. Then a man came into the lobby, I presume that's the other motel manager Bruce, and basically threw me coursing out of the lobby. Btw. some other issues I found with the room is a leaking shower head and the basin faucet is so hard to operate that I, a strong 39 year young man, have difficulties to open and close it. I'm not picky with hotels and I'm usually happy with what I get including this stay at Oasis Motel. I just noted some observations with no ill intentions and I probably wound't even do it when I would have realized I'm doing an actual review by ticking the smiles and boxes from the expedia email. Of course I myself got upset and not very friendly at the end. And I'm sorry for that. That's not me. I wish we could have talked about everything and sort it out but unfortunately that's sadly not something the...
Read moreZERO STARS RATING (but had to select at least one star) We stayed at the Motel in September 2021 to attend a tangi. We left early morning and returned late afternoon/evening. Unfortunately, very expensive items were stolen from our room. We bought it to managements attention and they more or less flobbed us off. At first they tried to say the room was not serviced however quickly changed their minds when I told them there was a serviced note on the toilet. The television in the room has also been tampered with since we had left the room which we bought this to their attention as well. We did report this to the police. The motel looked at their video footage and allegedly saw nothing but conveniently the footage deletes automatically after 7 days. If that was me, I would have saved the footage knowing the police were investigating it but yet management did not save it or record it to save it. The police found it strange as well but unfortunately for us, there is nothing more they can do for us. My sister changed rooms and accidentally left her expensive shampoo and conditioner in the room which management supposedly threw it out instead of holding onto it until we returned. I was told it was thrown out and they could not retrieve it. My sister had to ring them and tell them she wanted reimbursement for them to conveniently find it in the bin Myself and my sister highly do not recommend anyone to stay at this motel. Management can respond to this review like they have with all other bad reviews all they like but that WILL NOT CHANGE THE FACT OUR ITEMS WERE STOLEN FROM THE MOTEL ROOM AND MANAGEMENT DID NOT CARE AT ALL. We want everyone to know, do not trust this Motel or any of...
Read moreBest Place to a stay In Gisborne! (Review by Leigh Browne)
I recently stayed at Motel Oasis, and I can confidently say it’s the best place to stay in Gisborne. The service was outstanding, and the rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable. The quiet location is a real plus, with Sponge Bay beach just a short distance away, along with other beautiful spots like Wainui, Tatapari, and Pouwha.
The hosts deserve special mention; they truly make this place special. I was traveling alone and looking for some time to unwind, and this motel provided the perfect environment. The staff struck the ideal balance—always available for a chat, but also respectful of your space.
Although it was a bit chilly in September, I took full advantage of the heated pool and spa, which were 30% and 40% heated, respectively. I used them multiple times each day during my four-day stay, and I honestly didn’t want to leave.
I plan to bring my family and friends back, even though I have accommodation options in Gisborne. There’s something refreshing about having your own space on trips back home.
I highly recommend Motel Oasis. Even if you don’t have a trip to Gisborne planned, make one just to experience this fantastic place. It...
