On 8th October we arrived at Motutere Top 10 holiday camp site on the shore of Lake Taupo.|After arrival and registering in the office, were moved to a powered site near the ablutions blocks. The lady in the office made a comment about $6 but the meaning escaped me.|As we wanted to wash our clothes the first thing I did was to go to shower and change. However, on going to the Men’s block the door was barred and there was an instruction sign saying to use the unisex showers at the back of the building. As you entered the shower by walking westerly, the conclusion was that the unisex was on the western side.|On looking at that “back” there was a family shower room with coded lock. My conclusion was that the instruction was sloppily worded. So still carrying all my shower gear I walked the 200 m to the office to get the code. The lady then explained that the unisex shower were in what I inferred was the “front” of the block, but she disagreed and said I was wrong.|So, walked back the 200 m and had a shower.|After, we went to wash our clothes from the previous week’s travelling. In the laundry there were two workers who were changing the machines. They hurriedly got two for us to use. BUT, they were increasing the cost from $4 per wash to $6! Wow, that is a 50% inflationary increase. Gosh, what a steep increase. Thankfully we had enough cash for two washes. But then, I had to walk to the office again and get change for the two $6 dryers|Later I went to put the two loads into dryers. On removing one load, it was still dripping as if the centrifugal spinner had not been spinning fast. On returning to remove the clothing, those that had gong in dripping were still not dry. By then the office was closed, we had no more change and so I had to put on my still-not-dry track-suite that I used as pyjamas on the trip! Not nice.|However, my wife went to have a shower after dark. She entered the lace, turned on the lights, undressed to start showering and the light went out. So, there she was, in total darkness, but at least was still dry. So she had to dress by feel and returned to our campervan unwashed. It was not a comfortable feeling.||So we were:|1. Confused by the closing of the Men’s shower block;|2. Confused at the terminology on the sign outside the Men’s shower block;|3. Upset that the Men’s shower block could not be used;|4. Disturbed by the ridiculously high inflation rate used to raise laundry costs by 50%;|5. Had a damp sleep as the spinning did not dry the washed clothing.|6. Unable to have a shower as the Women’s shower light had a short duration.|Therefore, we had the very worst stay at Motutere of all the 30 holiday parks we used in New Zealand in our four-week campervan holiday.|We would recommend, strongly, that people think twice about staying...
Read moreJanuary 2024 - Final day here at Motutere Bay Top10 Holiday Park 😪. Its been an amazing week, absolutely loved it. Only left camp once. Lot's of kayaking, swimming and sunbathing 🙃😍.
This place is absolutely awesome. Staff have been fantastic, always happy to see you. They work hard to provide excellent customer service and keep the Park and facilities clean, tidy and operational. The facilities are perfect, great showers, toilet block, kitchen, laundry and BBQ area.
Absolutely love the lake front sites. Definitely my first choice. Even on a bad weather day, it's still a great outlook.
As mentioned before, the atmosphere (vibe & hum) of the place has been excellent and so different to July with lots more family groups and tourists filling the place.
Been really nice watching family groups spending quality time together, enjoying camping, water sports and fishing. So many life time memories made.
Ngā mihi nui for having me this week, I have had a lovely relaxing week. Looking forward to returning again to enjoy your awesome place, Ka kite anō au i a koutou.
Highly recommend Motutere Bay Top10 Holiday Park as a place to stay, ā dat, week, month or forever 🌞😊👍.

Read moreWe are absolutely disgusted with the attitude of one lady in particular (park manager I believe) at this campground. This is our second year coming here and absolutely loved it last time. We tried to get kayaks 3 times in the space of 4 hours. The first time we dealt with a lovely lady who had told me to come back in 30 minutes so that the people using them had time to bring them back. Half an hour goes by so we go and try purchase them again. This rude lady serves us and tells us that there are no staff members free to get the kayaks for us and tell us to come back in an hour. So we do. And the lady we first dealt with is there, and the rude lady looks at us and sends her away out back. She tells us that we will have to purchase them tomorrow. We tried explaining to her that we are leaving tomorrow but that didn’t help. We then walked down to where the kayaks are, see 4 kayaks outside not being used and atleast 4 different staff members walking around that could help us. We only wanted to hire 2 for 1 hour and would have been quite happy to wait. Instead we just get sent away and told we can’t have them. This isn’t all. Night before she comes walking across the road accusing us of not staying in the campground because we had parked our car outside the rubbish bins to throw our rubbish away (my partner was still in the car and the car was running. We were stopped for literally 2 minutes) And with a disgusting attitude she demanded we told her our campsite and prove to her we were staying. This is such a shame as we absolutely love this campground. It sucks that we will no longer be returning all because of one person and there...
