A Serene Escape Near Raglan: Our Yurt Adventure.

To celebrate my husband’s birthday, we planned a three-night getaway, searching for a tranquil and peaceful retreat not far from Raglan. We’ve never stayed in a yurt before, so the anticipation of a new experience added to the excitement. As we approached our destination, the scenery took our breath away—rolling landscapes stretched before us and beautiful waterways tucking in and out, simply stunning. From the moment we arrived, our hosts greeted us warmly, and it was clear this was going to be a special weekend.

When we stepped inside the yurt, I was amazed. The space was much larger than I expected, and everything was thoughtfully designed for comfort. While every detail exceeded our expectations, a couple of moments stood out that made our stay truly unforgettable:

The Symphony of Nature: Spending the day surrounded by birdsong was pure bliss. Whether it was soaking in the spa bath, losing myself in a good book, or just sitting quietly, the peacefulness of the surroundings was magical.

A Taste of Freshly Caught Delights: Our hosts went fishing during our stay and generously shared their catch. We were treated to freshly smoked Kahawai, which added an unexpected and delightful touch to our experience.

Loved it!!! We arrived on the windiest day of the decade and yet, once inside our delightful secluded yurt we felt as safe as houses. The inside of the yurt is snug, opulent, and quirky. There's a lovely bathroom and kitchenette, although all fried needs to be done outside on the bbq ( to protect the yurt ceiling) its all a delightful experience, and the yurt is beautiful. The space around the yurt is private and teeming with native birds ( even in the wind!!!) It's super close to the delightful artistic buzz of Raglan, with great coffee, brilliant shops and plenty of sea fresh air to revive tired spirits. Go.......

Exceeded all expectations, such a simple concept to place a yurt in amongst a small area of existing native bush. The deadened hush of quiet within the circular wall of the superbly appointed, soft furnished yurt, was something that struck me to the core of my soul. Best sleeps ever in the huge luxurious super sized bed. No expense spared in the up to date bathroom area. We will be back and are spreading the good word for this...
