O'Reilly's Motel — Hotel in North Island

This motel is reasonably located to Matamata and ultimately Hobbiton, which I imagine is driving most tourists to this area. The motel is located on the main highway coming into town, but is not in the central part of town.

The room we had was very, very large. It was on the second floor, but you do have to walk your luggage up, so beware. There is typical motel items in the room with kitchenette, bathroom, and living areas. Everything was clean.

The bed was a queen sized bed, but small for the room and the other furnishings were equally under-sized. It was not bad, just lots of floor space that unless you have lots of kids needing space to build their lego sets, there is no point to having. This is truly a more is less situation.

It is a bit noisier than desired. The motel is on the main highway and also on an active arterial. The windows are single paned and thin, so you tend to hear much of the traffic noise.

Had I not already paid in advance, I would have walked out. In fact, I was tempted to just write the payment off and leave anyway.||I arrived on a stinking hot afternoon to find that there was no air-conditioning or even a ceiling fan. The motel is on a very busy main road, and as an added bonus, there is a train line right beside said main road. It’s delightful when the crossing signal sounds and the train rushes past. ||I will admit that the room was clean and spacious but I think that’s all I can say in its favour. Zero comfort, no amenities and not even within walking distance of a shop/cafe/restaurant/pub. ||Don’t even...

We had the two bedroom apartment. Both rooms are without air conditioning. It was very hot and we could not sleep. The room facing the road was very noisy. Train and trucks ply the road throughout the night. Sofa doesn't look inviting. Couldn't use it anyway as the cushion does not fit too well making it uncomfortable. Actually it's a sofa bed if I am correct. There were two big harmless spider over the ceiling in the front room.|I walked on top toe. The carpets looked dirty or was it my imagination.. would be good if provided with bed slippers. Our consolation anyway was the cute friendly cat belonging...
