We arrived one night after 6pm (what campground closes at 6pm by the way?) and the office was closed so we started our way into the camp to find a spot. We were planning on paying the next morning like it is possible on every campground in NZ. ||We slept in this camp the night before so we knew a little bit the place and also that it was not busy at all, like the receptionnist said. So we were hopping to find a spot, we didn´t. we went back to the entrance and found the VERY RUDE owner. He directly told us that we had nothing to do here because apparently there is a stop sign, that we didn´t see and that we should have stoped there and wait for someone, remember the office was closed. (how long should we have waited, until the next day?) ||After explaning our situation (office closed and that we didn´t see the sign) he said "I don´t want you here" Would you talk like that to possible clients??!!||Even after saying we slept there the night before he was still rude so we left. ||||I can´t believe people acting like that to paying customers!!!!||||For the price by the way the kitchen is...
Read moreWe were so lucky to get the last cabin booked Christmas Eve for a couple of days stay on Christmas Reserved day 😉. Baz and Colleen are the best hosts I’ve ever come across. I’ve stayed in many places and these 2 made our family feel at home, they were so accommodating to our requests (not that we had many). They even recommended a few activities and food spots to try in the area which were great. Our kids loved the beach across the road, such a great place. Internet reception doesn’t connect, but head down to the beach and you’ll get a bit of reception down there which our big kids thoroughly enjoyed as life without the internet during our stay was difficult for them 😂. Our family would return based on Baz and Colleen’s service alone, but this time we are going for a bigger cabin lol. Thank you so much for everything. Our family feel so humbled by your aroha during our stay. You guys are amazing....
Read moreI recently booked two nights at Oamaru Bay (6-8 Jan 2018), but there was a big storm in North Island and the road from Hamilton to Coromandel was closed. There wan an alternative road, but it was not safe to use that road, as all the debris from the storm was still on the road. Oamaru Bay charged me 50% of the payment as a deposit when I booked the place some time ago. What they did was terrible. Not only they kept the deposit money but also charged the other 50% of the payment without informing me (from the credit card number I gave to secure a booking). The worst thing was they actually cancelled my booking on 7th before the check-in time and they charged me for that night. Their policy says that they charge the second half of the payment only when you check-in, but they charged me without my authorization. Do not recommend...
