The hotel closest to the CTC / L3 training centre at Clearways was full at the time I was making a short visit to my son who is pilot training, Ohuapo Olives was very close by, 5 minutes away so I booked it for two nights. On arrival I was warmly greeted by the owners who made me feel very welcome for my entire stay. This isn't an ordinary B&B, the standard and attention to detail is higher than many 5 star hotels I have stayed in! There was absolutely nothing missing and I am sure if there was it would have been provided, it wasn't too cold while I was there but noticed an electric blanket on my bed. The property is set in an olive grove of 400 trees and home produced cold pressed virgin olive oil is available to buy. The view from my room was overlooking the olive groves across to the hills into the distance, amazing! I think there are three guest rooms in the main house and a couple of guest lodges in the garden? The breakfast in the morning was served in the open plan kitchen at the family dining table, this made for a very relaxed and comfy atmosphere! The breakfast was more than adequate, fresh fruit, muesli, toast, pancakes, bacon and juice, coffee and tea. It is unfortunate that my stay was so short as I would have liked to have enjoyed Ohaupo Olives for...
Read moreWe spent two nights in the Cottage at Ohaupo Olives - the photos don’t do it justice. It has every modern convenience, including a washing machine, air conditioning and great wifi. Spotlessly clean, quiet, with a very comfy bed and linen sheets and seats outside for enjoying the late afternoon sun and view. And fresh home baking to welcome you from a hot day at Waitomo or exploring the local area. It’s really well situated to do a lot of sightseeing from. Roger and Liz are wonderful hosts and invited us in for a complimentary glass of wine the first evening - that was very welcome. The cooked breakfast was superb, thanks Roger! We didn’t want to leave and took home a bottle of their olive oil!! We have no hesitation in...
Read moreA little delayed with this review but my wife and I and two other couples from the States stayed here October 2019. It was one of the most enjoyable parts of a month long trip through Australia and New Zealand. Ohuapo Olives is not only in a beautiful setting in a country location, amidst a grove of olive trees, but Liz and Roger are the ultimate host and hostess. Their place is a combination of contemporary and comfort with beautiful views. Everything served was delicious. Throw in Liz and Roger, and you have all you need in a B&B. The cute and quaint city of Hamilton is just a few miles away. If we ever get back to Kiwi land, this would definitely be on our list of...
