I was fortunate to stay at this residence and was blown away by the incredible presence of the stunning house and its amazing gardens.||As soon as you enter the bottom, tree lined driveway of the property you know you're in for a real treat! ||I was warmly welcomed by Scott, Chris and the two cute dogs (who are from the same city as me!) I had a small tour of the house and its facilities before heading out with my family. I stayed in the Ruapehu Suite and it facilitated the whole second floor. The suite featured a beautiful open terrace which you could use and the bathroom was divine. The bed was lush and had its own window overlooking the driveway which was a really cool feature.||During my stay, I managed to find a bit of time to spend the day at the house and had lunch on the side of the outdoor water stream feature. The views looking toward Mt Hikurangi were absolutely breathless! I've stayed at many places across the globe, but this view was so beautiful and amongst the best I've seen on my stays abroad.||I highly recommend you spend some quality time to look at the gardens, they are truly spectacular. This place also features a pool and currently has a tennis court.||I Had a 3 course meal dinner on one of the nights, and it was the best option! You must try it. The food was exquisite and a very good range of flavours and choices of food to suit and cater to anyone's needs.l or dietary requirements.||Thanks so much to both Chris and Scott for your happy patronage. I miss you both already and I can't wait to see you when I go back to NZ.||Many wishes to you...
Read moreI stayed here at the recommendation of my travel lady, Kylie from Loco Tours, for a day of rest after 36 days of steady touring, including the Forgotton World Rail Carts I had just completed. Not only was she right that I needed a day off, but she was totally correct in this being the place for it. Gourmet dinner is optional, but a must, if you ask me. Breakfast is included and everything from the muselli to the bread and jams is homemade. Ask about the significance of the toast holders. The rooms are luxurious and comfotable. The gardens are peaceful and exquisite to wander through and the pool is invitingly refreshing. Two little puppies are a joy to watch chase the kitty, and the love they give you is a balm to a tired soul. I tried to get them to adopt me, but they didn't; even though I would make a great...
Read moreOmaka Lodge is definitely a cut above. The best accomodation in Taumarunui without a doubt. If you want a taste of luxury with the most amazing gardens this is the place to stay. Chris and Scott are fantastic hosts, friendly without being intrusive. The standout is the room ( very comfy, a great nights sleep) & the gardens. Chris & Scott have carried on the great work of Ken & Gaye Street and have exciting development ideas. I stayed on business which was a mistake as the comfy surrounds didnt drive me to finish off reports! Also just out of Taumarunui means that your pizza is still hot as you eat it in the courtyard. And yes the cat is as big as a horse but you have to make friends with Millie the Spaniel. Will definitely stay again when i am next down. Thanks Chris...
