Omatua riverside accommodation and events — Hotel in North Island

Absolutely exceptional from start to finish. We hosted a surprise 50th for our Mum with over 30 guests, and this venue exceeded every expectation. The moment we stepped through the doors, we were blown away — it was warm, inviting, and had the perfect balance of charm and luxury.

The Great Hall set the tone for the entire weekend — a breathtaking space that created the most beautiful backdrop for our celebration. With the DJ set up, laughter flowing, and everyone together under one roof, the energy was unforgettable.

The amenities were next level. The kitchen was a dream — spacious, modern, and fully equipped, making catering for a large group a breeze. The bathrooms were pristine and beautifully designed, and every bedroom was thoughtfully prepared with cozy, comfortable beds. There was so much space for everyone to relax, unwind, and feel completely at home.

Saturday and Sunday were more intimate, spent with close family enjoying peaceful moments, delicious food, and fireside chats. It was the perfect way to wind down after the big night.

Katie was an absolute gem — incredibly helpful and welcoming, making the entire experience seamless.

George and I got married at Omatua over Waitangi weekend. 55 of our closest friends stayed onsite and we had two of the best days of our lives. The venue and grounds are stunning! A hidden gem that was once a girl guides camp. But this review is mainly to rave about the venue owner Katie. She is an absolute legend and went over and above to ensure the wedding was a success. So generous, fun and on to it. We had amazing comms all the way through not being from the HB, and when we had torrential rain and a power line going down the morning of the wedding day she and all our vendors pulled together to get generators going, and set up everything inside the hall for us. Actually 4.5 stars!! Would give 5 stars, but we are still waiting for air-con in the rooms in those hot summers. Our group of 12 families really enjoyed Omatua. (About 15 children and 20 adults). Great setting, quiet peaceful location, fantastic river, all the facilities, there are enough bathrooms/toilets/showers for everyone, and the kitchen was well equipped for all our needs. The drive into Napier only takes 25mins, and we did this drive everyday. Katie is always incredibly helpful and friendly. See you next year...
