Our cycle group (12 older gents) stayed here on the 4th night of our recent tour from Cape Reinga to Bluff. The accommodation was booked over 6 months in advance firstly by phone, then by email, but our rooms were the last available and were fairly snug. All the other facilities were great and this is where we wanted to stay. Our hosts Neville & Jonna were fantastic and were able to put on a good meal for our group. Highly recommend as a place to stay and the Matakohi Kauri Museum a few kms along the road is a must see.

The male manager was very friendly and welcoming, however the cabin (" motel room") was overpriced, not particularly clean or well maintained. The smoke alarms had been removed and there was no information about evacuation process, amenities or local attractions. No information about WiFi access until I asked. The crockery did not include glasses, some cups and cutlery were dirty in the cupboards and drawers. The whole place had a run down vibe, furnishings outdated and artwork hideous ( but I guess that's personal opinion). I believe we paid twice as much as we should have. Unfortunately I would not recommend it unless prices...

Betty couldn't have been more welcoming at this well appointed rural unit. I chose it for the location close to the kauri museum I hadn't visited since a school trip a couple of lifetimes ago. It's a rare treat to receive a discount for being a solo traveller and it...
