Pikowai Campground is a nice place to stay especially for Fishing! only 2kms up the road to Hauone Beach Access an afew kms down the road to 2ndz Beach Access, Murphys Campground an Reserve an Matata. pikowai Campground has Showers an Toilets. Plenty of good sized sites. Has running water but do makesure you boil it before drinking! Plenty of Wildlife cruises through. Our last stay we had Kiwi coming right into the Campground gardens. Alot of Birds Breed here in the Dunes.. so please always be careful of these guys an their eggs/chick's.. Ample fish when she's going off.. Beautiful beaches all along here. Nice swimming with Fresh water Lagoons an Rivers an Streams nearby. Can be a rush to get in an out on occasion due to traffic an makesure you watch out for Trains! Pay by Internet once you arrive to avoid tickets! pet friendly too....

Cons: Right next to train tracks and SH2 lot of rd and train noise. A number of people living in cars ,vans,tents, some with there dog's when 1 barks they all start barking. Also, a lot of flies around. And you can sometimes smell Marijuana being smoked
Good place to stay overnight to have a break, but the atmosphere has changed a bit since there is no custodian on site, so no one here now, to watch over things. Not as family...
