Purple Hen Country Lodge — Hotel in North Island

We arrived late from Nelson (without a booking) and the hosts allowed us to book last minute, warm smiles and showed us around letting us get comfortable. The room we had had a bunk and two single beds, large communal wheelchair friendly bathroom and a ramp coming up to the rooms for those needing a more gradual entrance. Gorgeous gardens, so quiet and lots of birds singing their songs. Shared facilities were clean and capable to facilitate large groups, a generous tv room with WiFi, Netflix and Disney. Stayed at the Purple Hen for one night. I found it to exceptionally clean, and the hosts Andrea and Rupert were charming and accommodating. I loved the quirky, comfy sofas in the shared lounge and the kitchen was more than well equipped . Pata-tennis was great and plenty of board games. Brought a school group here for a local tournament. Rupert and Andrea were incredible! They were very accommodating and extremely helpful. Everything was set up well in advance and the rooms including private spaces for the teachers were well organised.
