CHRISTMAS DAY LUNCH FIRST SITTING 2020. You would expect a boutique hotel and spa of this calibre (The Henley Hotel in Cambridge) to have chefs who cater for vegans and vegetarians. But NO, absolutely not. I would not recommend dining here. A set menu of $89 per head was served for Christmas day lunch. Prepayment was required a week before. I had discussions via email well in advance asking if they would cater for vegans, saying there was nothing on the menu suitable for me. It was indicated they could. This is what I got for $89. Entree - cold beetroot soup (everyone had this as an option also - it was okay) My main course was a small plate of rice risotto! Nothing else. No roast vegies cooked in oil, although the set menu said all main course options included as such, no salads, no garnishing, nothing! My dessert consisted of a few slices of pineapple, 3 slices of kiwifruit and a few grapes! No strawberries, no melon, no dairy free yoghurt. TOTALLY USELESS. DISGUSTING IN FACT! The water in the urns for tea and coffee was luke warm. Some years back when the same premises were called Sarnia Park, I attended Christmas lunch there with family. They had a set menu far superior plus the chefs prepared wonderful vegan courses for me. The interior decor may have changed to look more palatial, but as for the food and the chefs, that's another story!A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. (The service was excellent however, and the tables were set nicely). But as for value for money, a TOTAL DISGRACE. I had intended to return at some stage for a day spa. That WON'T be...
