This place is pricey but worth it. The owner was having an event on our target days but it turns out there is a get 5 days when you buy 4, if you are willing to stay at Kinloch, which we did the first 2, then it really works out. We loved Kinloch and it is a very different experience than Treetops. We started with 11 of us, then went to 9 for the remainder of the stay. The ladies did horseback riding one day while the gents went fly fishing. There is an amazing Bridal Veil falls hike with picnic tables at the falls. As opposed to most great water falls, we were the only ones there due to it being on the estate. The food was great. Since we had so many people they would bring our happy hour canapes to our room, Lakeview. Plenty of golf carts to get around. They have a glow worm hike. If you get out to walk there are many herds of wildlife to be seen. It was a 28 minute drive to the ROT airport. Overall a great stay and highly recommended.

I stayed in November 2023 and the honey that they provide expired in Aug 2021, 2.5 years ago!!! Also know before you book: there’s no in room dining whatsoever. If you want dinner/breakfast, you will need to make reservations 24 hours in advance. You can only have dinner and breakfast at a specific time. You can’t get food whenever you want. If you don’t make reservations, the chef will not be working. Also you can only eat in the main lodge. If you stay at the cottage, it’s ~2km down the hill from the main lodge and you have to drive a 4WD car up the steep hill. They don’t provide any transportation between your room and the main lodge. Also the pheasant cottage is more like a random airbnb, it’s in no way relevant to the word “luxury”.

Incredible property - quiet rural location - with lots of history. Not for everyone very remote. Food outstanding Make sure to inquire about activities as there are amazing walks, high end bikes and of course trophy hunts but no information was provided at reservation or check in

I had the most horrid experience at Treetops Lodge & Estate, which I expected to be a luxurious retreat given the $2,500 USD per night price tag. Unfortunately, the reality was far from it.||First, the property is extremely remote—30 minutes away from everything—and requires navigating a poorly lit, dingy 4 km road from the highway. Upon check-in, the staff seemed sparse. A single lady assisted us but failed to provide the gate code, even though she knew we would return after dinner.||When we arrived back at 11 PM, we were locked out of the property with no staff present to buzz us in. We waited outside in the dark for over an hour, making 30 missed calls and leaving 14 voice notes—none of which were answered. Ultimately, we were forced to stay the night at the Pullman hotel instead.||What’s worse, there was no apology or acknowledgment of their negligence. The property itself is old, run-down, and does not justify the exorbitant price.||I would never recommend this place to anyone. There are far better options in Rotorua at a fraction of the cost. Save your money and avoid Treetops...

We went for our 35th Wedding anniversary and stayed at several locations I can tell you the staff at Treetops Lodge & Estates went above and beyond our expectations. Jo, the Manager, Elley., Piere~ ( One of the chefs, I hope I have his name correct), Lewis, and the rest of the staff made the stay amazing. They even set up a special time for us at the spa, with handmade chocolates and champagne in one of the amazing Hot buts outside. It was perfect. We are not hunters and would not have selected the lodge ourselves ( Our travel company did) but the staff made the time excellent. They gave us a private tour of the animals on the property and let us feed some of the horses; we took a hike to Merry Vail Waterfall, which is a must to do while you are there. The property is extensive, filled with herds of deer, wild turkeys, and tons...
