Despite being classified as a serviced DOC site, the lack of adequate facilities was evident. Most importantly, according to the DOC website a serviced campsite should be equipped with rubbish bins. At this campsite you need to take your rubbish with you - Cost reduction in its purest form. The kitchen area was ill-equipped with only one chair, making it challenging for multiple campers to comfortably utilize the space. Moreover, the absence of lighting in the men's toilet posed safety concerns during nighttime visits.
I can live with a basic campground, but I think it's just cheeky how the DOC classifies a basic campground, where many things are missing, as a campground of their highest category - with the corresponding price, of course. The night after staying here, we were on a campground in Muriwai, with much better facilities for just 2$ more per adult and night. I would recommend coming here only when you can use...

Smoking in the kitchen, parties at night, VERY loud midnight celebrations by folks from the other side of the planet(12 hour time difference). Non-campers coming in at night to drink and remove bathroom supplies. A great kitchen, wonderous walk, plenty of room although it gets very...
