DON’T GO TO WAINGARO HOT SPRINGS, EVER!!!
We had just had an amazing day climbing to the top of Mount Karioi, and were really looking forward to spending a relaxing time soaking for the afternoon. Don’t get me wrong, the pools were ok (full of bugs, plasters and hair but who cares) and the slides were fine, there was no lifeguard on duty the entire time we were there (but again we didn’t really care because we had 4 adults to our 4 children so they were safe with us), BUT the service there from one particular old witch of a woman was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!
The older woman at the counter singled out our family while we were swimming and began yelling at my daughter (who was swimming with her brothers) to get out of the deep end of the pool and move to the shallow end because she was underage (she wasn’t), we adults had only just hopped out of the pool to set up afternoon tea (we were literally right next to the pool) and the woman said that children needed to be under constant supervision and within arms reach at all times, so to stop an argument from happening my partners dad jumped in with the kids.
We later continued swimming in the slightly smaller pool which was out of the watchful eye of the “worlds worst woman in customers service EVER” because she continued to stare daggers at my daughter who was feeling upset and uncomfortable by this woman.
My daughter finally got brave again (with a lot of coercing from myself) and we went back swimming in the bigger deeper pool (this time I swam with them and stayed within arms reach the entire time). This same older woman then used the intercom and asked if “The woman with the glasses and her family could remove themselves to the shallow end of the pool” to which I replied “NO”, she then said into the intercom “I’ve been watching your family for some time and you all need to leave this end of the pool”. So I said no again, and I told her that “the children are allowed to be here swimming with me as I am their mother and I am with them and they can all swim, they’re fine”. Then she told me that she would “come down there” to which I told her to come on then! Lol
She then proceeded to tell us that we needed to move to the smaller pools and I told her that there shouldn’t be any reason why they couldn’t swim there because I was with them the whole time, she continued to go on and on about it being unsafe, and then she said (and I quote) “I have seen 3 MAORI kids drown here because their parents weren’t watching them”.
Firstly, the fact that 3 children have drowned at these pools should surely warrant that the place be closed down?! Secondly, I was literally a foot away from my kids that whole time in the water so how could I possibly not be watching them to make sure that they didn’t drown?! And Thirdly, I didn’t understand why it was an issue, until she played the race card. It was simply because I was MAORI, and my kids are MAORI and we are a MAORI family... That was the only reason why she singled us out...
If I could give a rating of zero stars that would still be too many, the morale of the story here is, we will NEVER be back to Waingaro hot springs, and I would recommend that everyone stays away.
It’s just...
Read moreYesterday 28th Dec 2019, decide to stay a night in one of the accommodations and was booked for Motel 1 which accommodates 4 people. We arrived a lil after 3pm and it cost $200 a night. Got to our Motel 1 opened door and the inside was very disgusting that I took photos of the place, the photos that are on their site is very deceiving as it does look absolutely amazing to make you want take your family their, this place needs and is crying out loud for TLC. After unpacking our car decided to go for a swim which we did walking across from Motel 1, was at the pools for bout an hour or 2, headed back to Motel 1 for shower and get ready for dinner at Waikato Bar and Accommodation, dinner was absolutely delicious and satisfying so yes time to hangout in our Motel 1 and play games but instead I momma bear decided to tuck myself in 1 of the single beds that is in the lounge to settle my tummy, few minutes later I felt something crawling on my foot but didn't take much notice of it until I literally felt it again and this time my 6yr old son and pull blankets off me, checked my tracks I had on nothing, rolled 1 leg pant up(right leg)slowly just for Hawaiki to say OH MUM TAKE YOUR TRACK OFF ITS A SPIDER THAT CRAWLED UP YOUR LEG AND INTO YOUR TRACK PANT. I quickly saw the ugly legs crawling on my leg making it's way to my knee. I jumped up and shouted and said to my family I want 2go home take me home, owners of this place still charged me for laying in that 1 bed and using 4 towels and bath mat to the shower for $53 which was taken out of our $200 this place does not deserve to be open and I don't even know how is it still open with what it looks like now, old man at the reception is very rude I feel all he cares about is taking our money but does not do any kind of renovation to the place, I want to report this place to OSH and HEALTH AND SAFETY. THIS PLACE DESERVES A 0 RATING!! Can someone tell me how to post the photos up.i took of this place so everyone can the actual reality of this place I'm very...
Read moreHad booked Waitangi weekend a cabin for a family of 5 got there at the time we said we were going to be there to find out they had double booked our cabin. They got hold of the other family by phone who cancelled their booking which gave us the opportunity to take the cabin we had booked 3 months prior. The cabin at $100 per night was pretty basic we had 2 bunks with a dbl being the bottom of one bunk and the top had no mattress and slats. Had advised them we were coming with a 11mth old child they said they could accomodate his bedding needs so didnt bother with the portacot only to find out that there was nothing for him. Even if he could sleep on a bunk the mattress and slats were missing!! My 2 other children shared the other bunk. The bedroom kitchen and dining was one room. No basic needs ie broom to sweep up only the small shovel. Only a 2 cooker to cook on no oven there was a shared kitchen which was disgusting. No proper dishes and thats just the cabin. The pools had rubbish around them, the hydroslide pool area was dirty from the mud being dragged in from out the gate. The park area was filthy and uninviting. The pools were very warm and the lifeguards didnt really look qualified to save a life!! The shared toilets and showers were basic and tv room area is where i saw the lifeguards and maintenance men most of the time. After the 1st night i wanted to leave. In saying all that my kids enjoyed themselves which is what really matters. I loved going to Waingaro hot pools as a child but its gone to the pack the shop is disturbing. The people who run it need to give it back to the iwi. Clean it up or...
