Such a shame because it’s such an amazing spot but the campground was a massive letdown. 10 of us (two families) went for four nights and booked two kitchen cabins. In one cabin, the fridge didn’t work and the ranch slider didn’t slide, it jumped. Was very hard and noisy to open and close. When we arrive and checked in we were told one of the cabins didn’t have keys because the last people left with them. No spares? No. The most disappointing thing though was most of the amenities had been locked with a padlock!! We had one shower for the campground. There were 10 of us alone!! Kitchen was locked too. Too bad if we wanted to use something that wasn’t in our cabins such as an oven!! Her reason? She was the only one there to clean!! How is that our problem? It’s not like we turned up unannounced! There were also other people coming and going from the campground. Had us by the short and curlies really because we had to pay in full to confirm our booking! Huge letdown all in all. Beautiful spot and amazing company with our friends but spend some money on the campground and quit locking most of it up!! Also says on the website there’s a playground for the kids. That’s a huge stretch. We had ants and cockroaches in the cabins too. Wouldn’t...

We stayed in a cabin and it was so run down and mostly cosmetic that could easily have been fixed before putting guests in there. ||The electric frypan was scratched to bits, non-stick no longer, disgusting condition and definitely not safe to cook in! The standard frypan was even worse - looked like something that had been buried and dug up from a thousand years ago! It was dirty, scratched and just plain disgusting! I exchanged it but what I got was only marginally better - still scratched, non-stick coating very worn! Again, unsafe to do ANYTHING in. ||The room was okay, bed not comfy, plug in hob was dirty but at least the food didn't have to touch it (but still not something to give to guests).||There is a curfew of 10:00 pm for guests to be quiet - but the owners obviously did not bother to check this - party going on for a couple of nights till well beyond midnight - super loud guests yelling and screaming. Would not stay here again - with all the 2nd hand shops out there, it's not an excuse that good condition cookware is not affordable. You need some quality control in this place - whoever is doing your cleaning of the cabins is not doing their job to leave these disgusting items in...

I was so looking forward to our stay at Waipatiki. Been out there many times over the years.|However...|We were shocked at how stuff was just dumped (horded) and how things were just not put away upon our arrival. It was like driving into a junk yard. |We were greeted by a scruffy looking office with broken steps, needing a good clean and some organising. |The lady that greeted us if you can call it that, lacked enthusiasm, and did not pass on relevent info. |Like the toilets that have poo splatters on them are actually closed! They were disgusting!!|And this is the WIFI code. |The main block was somewhat clean, but a good bug spraying wouldnt go a miss. I dont like showering with cockroaches.|Chickens wandered freely pooing all over our site, attracting flies. |The site situation was fabulous, and the beach is awesome, you can kind of get over the poor management of the place.|I think the Management of is fabulous place let it down big time. |Maybe they need a holiday...

Great location. Owners are really friendly, even during the very busy times. Facilities are good and clean. Pitches are various sizes, so if you have a big tent or van, check ahead. Christmas and New Year are very popular with regulars, so I suggest you book early and aim for mid Jan. There are some nice short (3-4km) walks with great views close by. The beach is great, but you need to use your brain and stay between the flags so the surf life savers can keep an eye on you.

Really nice campground, we stayed for 4 nights and loved the holiday vibe (it was between Christmas and New Year). Great campsite for kids and not too big. There's probably not enough showers and toilets at peak times, but we managed fine. You have to wade through a river to get to the beach, but it's only knee/thigh high. The river was great for our SUP and the beach was also great.

Beautiful location. Our little family enjoyed spending time here. The weather turned a bit towards end of our trip so we decided to stay in a cabin for one night. The cabin was clean & cosy. The owners very accommodating & lovely. Thank you for your warm hospitality!
