The best campsite we've stayed in so far! This place offers camping for tents, powered and unpowered vehicles, private rooms and dorm rooms. The price is reasonable for a campsite and cheap for the facilities you get. $16 per person per night for an unpowered campsite. There is a saltwater swimming pool (with noodles, tyre tubes and reclining chairs), tennis court (rackets and balls available from reception), squash wall, basketball hoop, huge lounge, verandah and kitchen, showers, laundry and toilets. There are farm animals (calves, pigs, piglets and deer) which are fed twice a day (morning and 5:30pm) and you can pet them. The owner/manager is very friendly and always has his small dog Max around. The laundry is $2 for a cold wash and you can hang your clothes outside to dry. The showers have very good pressure, very hot, clean and modern. Kitchen is equipped with everything you need - three ovens, microwaves, toasters, toastie machine, blender, slow cooker, rice cooker and much more. The lounge is big yet cosy in a kinda log cabin style with a freestanding fire. Also TV with DVDs, books and bean bags. Everything is perfectly clean (rubbish emptied every day, towels changed etc). Free wifi included (not always great but does the trick). There are plenty of places to park/pitch your tent with/without shade. I wish we could...

The hostel in itself is ok. Shower and bathrooms are clean. Kitchen is good. Bed are acceptable but tend to cave in. ||What made this experience really terrible for us (I’m travelling with my cousin) was the manager. He barged in our room without a knock or a word at 11pm screaming incomprehensible words and throwing people things around the room violently. This was a very scary moment because he never said who he was; I really taught my life was in danger. We finally understood that he was asking if there was any free beds in the room. Then he stormed off. He came back, screaming and swearing again, with two girls that looked absolutely terrified of him (apparently he had just done the same thing in front of them in another room next door). He had also screamed at the girls because they checked in too late. We asked him who he was the second time he came in the room and he just screamed “I’M THE MANAGER!” and then stormed off again. The whole thing was so disrespectful and unprofessional. It felt super unsafe to stay there after. I would highly recommend to stay elsewhere just because of him. I feel like he needs...

This place is phenomenal! The YHA Waitomo Juno Hall is run by a wonderful family, the accommodations are comfortable and clean and the property is truly stunning. There’s a saltwater pool, a tennis court, and a whole host of friendly animals that you can actually interact with. The hostel is VERY close to one of the activity providers for caving, and a short 25-minute walk to the township for snacks, restaurants, museums, and the rest of the activity providers. My partner and I were randomly and generously upgraded for one of our two nights from a 6-dorm to a private room! I genuinely had a great stay here and will be back next time I want to do some caving adventures in New Zealand! 💕

Situated right accross the highway from Legendary black water rafting co. made this a perfect location to camp while we explored Waiting. There are 4 powered spots and a few non powered. Kitchen is well equipped and staff are friendly and helpful. I was able to use the PC here to transfer pics off the caving memory stick to my phone. The farm animals provide great entertainment while you eat your food on the deck with it's great views. It was very hot The 2 days we were here so the pool was very refreshing if a bit slimy on the bottom. The kitchen was well appointed and there were enough showers and toilets. Wifi worked well. Recommended!

Offers comfortable beds and a well-equipped kitchen, complete with all the utensils, a fridge, and a freezer. The cozy lounge area features a fireplace, perfect for relaxing, and is stocked with a great selection of board games, books, and movies. You can also make use of the on-site tennis courts with rackets provided. While the pool was closed for the season, it looks like a lovely spot for warmer months. Dave is a great host that knows nearly everything going on in the area. He's a good chat and quiet a character (Ask him about his time in the navy). His dog, George, and lamb, (I think named) Le Pew, are super cute.
