We booked a powered campsite way in advance in anticipation for the new year holidays.
We somehow choose Mossburn Country Park for their distance to Milford Sound, and the reviews was pretty good.
The campsite was easy to find and after turning off from the main road, there was a gravel track leading to the campsite reception area, the check in was easy and fuss free, we were free to find our appropriate parking spot beside any power supply. We finally settled for a quieter corner near to the gravel pathway as we will be leaving very early next morning for the first cruise out to Milford Sound via Mitre Peak Cruises.
The shower and toilet facilities is well kept, hot water is not an issue, and we had a very quiet night rest without interruption of any sorts, no sandflies and mozzies was noticed and the grass on the camping ground was will manicured and watered, nice, soft and green.
There was a gentle breeze which kept the temperature cool and we were able to have our dinner just beside our campervan.
Spacing between other fellow campervan was well spaced out without feeling cramped.
The next morning was we were leaving, we were surprised that the camp manager opened the main gate in advance for us, knowing that we will be leaving at 4am, it might not be a lot, but this simple thoughtful gesture of remembering to open the gate for us, has left a excellent impression.
Keep up the good work, and we will be back again in time to come, as everyone says, sightseeing in NZ is never enough, even if you set aside 1month, it is still insufficient to soak in the beauty, culture, food and the people who made this trip very enjoyable and made a lasting...
Read moreOne of our favourite campsites in our two and half weeks campervan roadtrip around South Island. Mossburn Country Park is a family run campsite with an animal farm on the side. My husband and I are big animal lovers, so we really enjoyed spending time with the animals. I think we spent almost an hour with the Alpacas! There are three goats, a few cows, some large sized chickens, a greedy golden retriever, 2 peacocks, and a herd of alpacas. The owner provided us with some feed and we could get up close to them. It is $36 for a powered site and you get clean hot unlimited showers, use of the kitchen, a hairdryer (luxury for the ladies), and even free and strong (but limited to 350mb) WIFI. This is great value for money! We also made used of the laundry facilities (Paid Service) Considering we pay an average of $42 bucks a night at other campsites and it goes up to $52 in Queenstown. Owner is very friendly with a wicked sense of humour. If you are driving from Queenstown to Te Anau or Milford sound, definitely make an overnight pit stop over at this campsite before driving onto you next...

I think what’s different from a lot of places is that you can really feel all the Love the owners have put into this place. It just reaches you when you start walking around. You guys should definitely have a look on the blue book telling the whole story of this “dream” place. Liked it so much after Milford Sound that we decided to stay one more night! Enjoy the opportunity to feed the alpagas, sheeps, peafowls and chickens! Very good showers, (not charged neither time restricted) Very good facilities, a good sized kitchen, even two small cabins with chairs and a table with some society games in each of them to play with family or friends. The laundry only has two washing machines and two dryers so you can have a bit of a queue when everyone wants to wash their clothes at the same time. But still, it’s a straight...
