I was treated with a gift voucher for my birthday last year for 2 nights and finally took advantage of it a year later. We chose the Glamping option as something different and man this didn't disappoint. The location itself is remote but easily accessible and just a turn off the main road to Mangawhai. The Teepee was cozy but spacious with a luxury king sized bed (plus 2 singles) and everything we could have needed for our stay. The facilities were like new, clear and plenty available. The kitchen area had everything you could have needed to cook for yourself onsite without needing to wait for others to finish up with their pots/pans/plates ect. Elaine was great onsite, she super friendly and gave us recommendations of places to eat in town and everything she recommended was amazing. My only suggestion is possibly a bigger fridge as for our room allocation, we only had 2 small shelves in the door which were great for drinks but unfortunately couldn't store food we had purchased in store so needed to borrow someone else's shelf. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who is looking for a unique experience with a...
Read moreWe (husband, 10yr old & I) booked a 4 day weekend staying in the triple eco pod last weekend. They weren’t fully booked so Che (very generously) offered to let my husband & I stay in a separate double pod. He checked up on us over the weekend to make sure we were all warm enough (we were) and that we had everything we needed (we did). The kitchen pod was well equipped and the heating in the bedroom pods was great. The views over farmland and out to the ocean were stunning. We were lucky enough to have perfect weather every day making the view of the sunrise over the ocean spectacular. Kiana & Billy were excellent surf instructors and clearly knew their stuff. They kitted out our 10yr old with the right size wetsuit and board and he was pleased to declare at the end of his lessons that he was now ‘a surfer’. Being able to book a surf weekend including a choice of accommodation all on the same website made the experience very simple. We had a wonderful time and look forward to our next trip to Aotearoa Surf Eco Pods to try out the Glamping...
Read moreThis was our third annual trip here and the owners have made efforts to improve things each year, like adding an extra fridge etc. However, every visit has been really let down by the complete lack of cleaning. With 7 families all on site at the same time, mostly with 2 adults and 2 kids, the bathrooms need regular attention and towels etc need laundering. The bins are not emptied and we end up bringing our own bin bags and tea towels and towels. Each stay we have mentioned this but still it does not happen. Cleaning communal spaces and bathrooms is an expected service at any motel/hotel/holiday park and is even more necessary with shared facilities. This really lets down what would otherwise be a great place. We hope cleaning can go up the priority list so we can enjoy the view and...
